previews: Omaha(from Mavs' preview)  Shayla McCormick officially topped 800 career kills last week after racking up another 24. She now has 806 kills, along with 824 digs in her career.  After topping out at nine kills six times this year, Brynlee Arnold finally reached double-digits for the first time in her career on Saturday when she led the team with 13 kills vs. UND and simultaneously reaching 100 on the season. Emily Huss had a career day on Saturday as she became the first Maverick to record double-digit blocks in a single match this year with 11, including four block solos. Erica Fava notched three more service aces over the weekend and is now tied for third in the conference with 23. McKenna Ruch and Amanda Hardt are in a dead heat for the team lead in kills, with the rookie holding a two-kill lead with 176. Only nine players in the conference have reached 200 kills so far, and both Ruch and Hardt will likely reach the milestone this week. South Dakota(from USD preview)  Senior middle blocker Madison Harms recorded her 600th career block in USD's sweep of St. Thomas, becoming just the second Summit League player to record 600 career blocks. The Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, native recorded her 1000th career kill in South Dakota's match against Omaha on Sept. 23, becoming the 12th Coyote in program history to join the 1,000-kill club.  Defensive specialist Kamryn Farris has rotated into the libero position for the Coyotes. The sophomore put up a career-high 26 digs against Kansas City on Oct. 14 and has tallied double-digit digs in seven of eight games as the libero. Junior outside hitter Kylen Sealock plays all six rotations for the Yotes and has recorded seven double-doubles on the season so far. The Lincoln, Neb., native has tallied double-digit kills in all but three matches this season and recorded a career-high 18 kills in South Dakota's sweep of Central Michigan on Sept. 16. Freshman setter Avery Van Hook has stepped into the setter role for the Coyotes and has recorded nine double-doubles in 18 games, including a career-high 53 assists against Kansas City on Oct. 14. Freshman outside hitter Samantha Laird has rotated into the main lineup for the Yotes and joins fellow freshman Amanda Loschen in the front row. Laird recorded a career-high 13 kills in USD's five-set win over North Dakota on Oct. 5. Loschen fills the hole on the right side and put up a career-high 10 kills against Kansas City on Sept. 28. |
