You're right. I forgot that one. Could have made it interesting with AJ too. I still think our best chance was when we lost to them in the final. I say the best chance was the year before when they were the #1 seed and definitively better than the Jacks. Lost to them in the semifinal when they didn't trail until 1.5 seconds left. That one hurt. That could be the game I'm thinking of. I just remember being extremely disappointed walking out of the Denny.

That may have been the maddest I have been over a game. 😂

Man disappointing finish. With that in mind, im understanding of the frustration but also think this fan base needs a reality check. Let’s give this guy some time and grace to build a program- not a year to year stop gap like his predecessor. If you have watched basketball for any period of time and listen to EP talk hoops you know it’s a matter of time. He hasn’t hit the lottery with Matt Mooney like smith did just yet but his first full class hits campus this summer. Whining here and on social media is embarrassing - be better. Support this program and let’s turn it around. Go yotes. The fan base needs a reality check? We just finished dead last in the SL in a year where the conference, as a whole, isn't very good. We are the worst team in a group of bad teams. There's the reality check. Got any room on that bench? Ndsu is awful. Richman needs to be FIRED ASAP!!!

In case you missed it, St Thomas fans claim they were robbed due to the SDSU crowd factor at the Denny and now want it moved to a completely neutral site. One account on twitter is suggesting Wisconsin or Iowa. As it’s not a completely even playing field for them.

Nobody hates state fans more than I do - I had to fight the urge to run them over with the car on my way out of the Denny yesterday. But the only reason the SLT draws the crowds that it does is because of the two state schools within an hour of the facility. Look at attendance numbers from around the conference in the regular season. Not exactly stellar numbers as it is. Now put the tournament in a place where nobody in the surrounding area cares or has even heard of the Summit League. The kids would be playing in an empty gym.

In the case of UST I just find it bold for them to complain on it already when they don’t have really a right to. The cities are 3 ish hours away their fans could’ve showed up and made some noise too.

Sioux Falls does a great job hosting the SLT. SDSU fans always show out in force and SDSU has had incredible success on both the men's & women's side of the tournament. The SDSU crowd size and success feed off each other. However, any team that is playing SDSU, including USD, will always feel like the visiting team. The vast majority of the seats between the baselines on both sides are always primarily full of blue clad fans. This was once again the case in the women's game yesterday, with most USD fans relegated to seats in the corners beyond the baselines. Fans from all schools, including USD, would be more likely to attend if more of the seats between the baselines were made available to the fans of both teams playing in each game. The 4 day format (5 for those in the play-in game) also makes it difficult for those traveling any distance to attend the full tournament.
Commissioner Fenton has stated that student athlete experience is a priority in deciding where the tournament is held. The current format & ticketing arrangement provides for a great experience for the SDSU student athletes and to a lesser extent to the USD student athletes. However, how great is the experience for any games not involving SDSU or USD? The 3 best games of the tournament so far this year; KC vs Denver on Saturday night, UND vs Omaha on Sunday night & Omaha vs Denver on Monday night, were the last game of each session and the second half of each game was played in an almost empty arena.

I don't think Sioux Falls does a great job hosting the tourney. In my opinion, they cater to SDSU fans for whatever reason, and I don't need some sanctimonious bunny coming on here and claiming the reason is that they support it so strongly. Sure you do, but no one else is given the chance. You'll never convince me that there's equal opportunity to get your hands on decent tickets. I wish I knew how this happens. This was supposed to be a reseating year, but it was the same stuff. I've had season tickets every year in the past, looked at improving my lot this year, jumped through all the hoops and when I went in, immediately when it opened up, there no seats between the baselines except for singles. I thought, "What the hell," and ended up not buying any. Still went to two of the three game and watched the other on TV. I'll never buy season passes again because I'm not going to spend good money for crap seats.

Every team outside of South Dakota should be unsatisfied with this arrangement. I'm sure it was a factor in every departure we have seen over the years. Money talks though and there isn't another site that will bring in nearly as much cash.

The ticketing part does need to be reformatted I’ll agree on that. But I also believe that no matter where you put the tourney that it will still be mostly blue. They treat it as an annual holiday like NDSU does for frisco. So even if it moved to say Des Moines they’d still probably have 1500 sdsu fans to 700 non. That’s still a higher number of fans than most teams play in front of on any given night so I don’t think it really solves anything by moving it. It sucks but there are also very few cities outside of the league footprint that would host it and any city that’s interested is still within the sdsu fans reach.

Move the tourney to KC, Omaha, Denver, Minneapolis or wherever, SDSU will have the most fans attending. The prolonged tradition of doing well and going deep in the tournament gives fans both the confidence and desire to travel to the games. Will they have 4000 attend in a Minneapolis setting? I am not saying yes but I also wouldn't be surprised if they did. Pretty sure that is not the case for any of the other teams in the conference.

If it's kicked back to the schools that's one thing, but if it's used to pad the expense accounts and salaries of Summit officials then screw that.

I'm glad they got rid of the multi-year tickets, but they still are grandfathering things way too much, if folks interested in upgrading seats are still boxed out. I guess I don't know how they can improve it for fans who haven't been grandfathered in, but it obviously isn't fixed. I agree that the Jack fans just want it more and are more persistent about renewing seats, but you have to give other fans that are willing to pay for the seats a chance. Frustrating.

Here is my proposal: 1) Play the play-in round and quarterfinals on campus with the higher seeds hosting. 2) Men's play-in game(s) at the higher seed on first Wednesday after regular season & women's play-in game(s) on Thursday. 3) Men's quarterfinals on first Saturday after regular season with the top 4 seeds hosting with each game assigned a tip-off time. Game 1 @ noon, game 2 @ 2:30, game 3 @ 5:00 & game 4 at 7:30. Midco/SLN broadcasts all games and hosts a half-time & between games studio show. Same format for the women on Sunday. 4) Men's semi-finals on Friday night at the Denny. Game 1 at 5:00 & game 2 @ 7:30. Men's championship on Saturday at 7:00. Semis on either Midco/SLN or CBS Sports & title game on CBS Sports. 5) Women's semi-finals on Saturday at the Denny. Game 1 at noon and game 2 at 2:30. Women's championship game on selection Sunday at noon. Semis on either Midco/SLN or CBS Sports & title game on CBS Sports.
Change the ticketing process so that fans for the teams playing in each game get first shot at equal number of tickets for each fanbase of all tickets between the baselines, including those in the Premier Club.
