Who wants to take bets that we draw Minnesota in the opening round? With a 48 team field, 16 teams get first round byes. Minnesota has a NET of 66. I am guessing they get a bye and wouldn't be real surprised to see the Bison also get a bye. My guess is the USD will play UNI and the winner will play Minnesota. |

They like to keep travel costs down, and try to avoid conference matchups in the first two rounds. I'm honestly surprised to see so many schools from the Big Ten, but most of them have losing records overall, so there's that. |

Honestly, looking at the teams in this year's WNIT, it may be a little watered down, but not by much. I think the teams that have turned their noses up at the WNIT in the past are getting on board with the WBIT, at least in its inaugural year. Lots of P-5 schools in there. So that's a good thing.

If we get paired with Wyoming, they will undoubtedly host. With Illinois State, I don't know who would host. I think our admin is good at bidding in the later rounds, but the early rounds just don't generate enough buzz to justify a high bid. If we play Minnesota it will be in Minneapolis. If we somehow get past them, I could see us hosting some games.

I have no idea on what we are losing with Joy since injuries kept her off the court both years.
I really hate to lose Walker. She really could have used a red-shirt year as a freshman, but injuries to others forced her to play. She was starting to play much better towards the end of this season and was a force inside, but foul troubles really limited her playing time. FWIW, Grafton is only 40 miles from Grand Forks.

That is really sad about Walker. I think that she has voices in her ear that do not have her best interest at heart. She is not strong enough to go to a power five team, and does not have the footwork yet. But it is something that she was working on and getting better at. I think she was in the right place for her talent / skill set.

I wonder if Walker will play in the WNIT? Would be unusual given how these transfers play out. Also puts the coaches in a tough spot- pretty hard to play someone in the portal. |

I wonder if Walker will play in the WNIT? If a player turns her back on her team, her coaches and her school, why would you consider letting her put on a USD uniform. |
