Having a very low ceiling to give the home team just that much more of a home court advantage is a trade off I will take any day to not be able to have a center hung score board. The most important thing of a new arena is having a configuration where the seating has a good view of the court and having the feel of being on top of the court is definitely a good thing. It is nice to have a facility for the basketball and volley ball teams that was made for the sport they were playing and not for football.
One of my biggest examples of this is when being at the Dakota Dome vs being at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. If you sit above row 20 in the football seats at the dome it is not a very good seat to get a good view of the court. On the contrary if anyone has ever sat in the upper deck of the Premier Center to watch an event it is amazing the difference between the view you get there vs the dome or the old Sioux Falls Arena. If you want a true feel of being on top of the action the Premier Center gives you just that. That is another arena without a bad seat in the house but I will admit that I have never sat in the corners of the upper deck so I cannot speak of that. If anyone has even watched a game in the Corn Palace that is the exact opposite. It's amazing how poor many of the seats are there for how small the facility is.
The bottom line is that this new arena is gonna be awesome. The red on top of red will be a true Coyote feel. The amenities, the noise level it seems to have it all. It certainly appears that this facility was done first class and done with a lot of thought put into it.
