Wonder what the story behind this one is?
More importantly, isn't the NCAA going to start tracking teams graduation rate and if it is not high enough the team will be ineligible for the NCAA tournament? I know transfers will effect this statistic. If so, it is going to become more important to recruit and sign a kid that will stick with the program.
Way too many players leaving this program after a year or two. Is this the norm?

It's becoming the norm.

Ohh, I know there are a lot of transfers around the NCAA. There was all that controversy around that Wisconsin kid transferring out that put a spotlight on the issue. My main question has to do with how transfers are counted in the teams graduation rate and if the NCAA is going to start banning schools from the post season with low grad rates. I could have swore I heard something about that.

In all fairness to Nimrod, why wouldn't he transfer. As much as I like Coach Boots, and think he is a good coach, my two criticisms of his are he doesn't play a lot of kids, and he is blind about his own sons talents. ( I am not saying I wouldn't be either )

When did he sign? Seems like he was a late in the year pick up, and might have just been out there. He might not be a good fit, and might be happier somewhere else. If I was 18 again and a good athlete and had an offer to USD to play bb, I would make the most of it,especially if my interests today were still the same as they were 50 years ago, I would be hanging on and racking up A's in accounting. Basketball playing time would be secondary, as long as I was getting the free ride. BUt I am not Hillary and his interests are no doubt are very different.
As far as losing players, its part of the transition and developing a different network of coaches who you depend on for recruiting. I think SDSU might be a little further down the road, and dare I say its because the move to D1 started a couple years sooner. No big deal, I am sure Boots will come up with someone more productive. There are more Donlons out there who are still weighing their offers and options.

YF, you have the story completely wrong.
A) Nimrod didn't do anything spectacular to warrant additional playing time;
B) regardless, he is leaving because he couldn't cut it in the class room.
Mick had been alluding to this issue in his live chats for a couple months now.
P.S. With the KSU PG playing next year, Nimrod probably wouldn't have seen the court. Consider me a guy that wasn't impressed and thought he was undersized.

Funny how this is just an issue for one person over a long period of time.

All I said is if it was over Jordan's playing time vs his comparing skill sets, then I would understand it. I trust in Coach Boots. But I do believe his one weakness is Jordan and the amount of playing time he gets compared to others. As a former athlete I would guess that has to have an affect on team moral. This isn't a campaign to remove Dave as coach because I think he should be our coach. I just think on this one issue he is wrong, that's all. But then again I am not a basketball player.

Why is it that this basketball team just can't seem to field 10 guys that can play. Whether it's Boots' doghouse, someone transferring, just not cutting it or whatever. The decision making needs to get better in deciding who to bring in and who not to. I am not at all happy with the player development for the most part with the program. I thought Hilliard was a real good get and to have him get so little PT and now the transfer out just doesn't sit well with me. I don't think this is all on Nim but I really don't know for sure. Many players have transfered out of here only to have more success and opportunity elsewhere. I still don't get why Brock Siem was not given a a bigger shot at USD where he had a star studded career at Dakota Wesleyan.
I really ride the fence alot with this basketball program. I don't have the most confidence right now that the Yotes are even within 2 years of being a legit contender in the Summit. If this player carosel continues and we continue going the juco route so often I don't know if the questions will ever really get answered and to really know that we have a team that is ready to seriously challenge.

There is a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE difference in playing for an NAIA team and scoring a ton and playing for a Division II team. If that was the case, why wasn't Brady Wiebe given a shot by Augie. Please.

I would venture to guess that you barely ever saw him play with USD. Lets face it you are going to be out of the loop when it comes to USD athletics. You will barely watch a game but I am sure you think you will remain an expert for years to come which you certainly won't be and certainly never was. I am surprised with how poor your writing style is considering you are supposed to be a journalist. Do us both a favor and just ignore everything I write. We would both be better off that way.
