Additional information: www.yankton.net/sports/article_fa10c012-c357-11e2-ae54-0019bb2963f4.htmlWe are at about 70% of our goal. "On the question of when ground could be broken on the arena, Schemmel reiterated the previous stance that the short-term goal is by the end of 2013. “That’s still the hope, and we’ll do everything we can to push that,” Schemmel said. “That’s certainly the goal, but it’s not a certainty.” The more realistic timeline, however, would be for actual construction to begin on the arena project in the spring of 2014, he added. USD is, though, in the final design phase of the project, meaning that financial discussions have given way to specifics with the contractors."

Why do they keep saying the fall of 2013 as a probable timeframe but yet say realistically it won't happen until Spring. Will reality please stand up and be recognized.

They are hoping that some more people step up to the plate to make it happen sooner than later.

Because there is a difference between breaking ground and building the facility. Hopefully they have everything ready this Fall so that this Spring they can start building it.

In Mick Garry's chat today there was a comment that they were going back to the original plan with the sunken floor. Anyone know anything?

I heard there is a start date to the facilities improvements of April 1 (or thereabouts, this spring). Shovels hitting the ground.

the water table in that area prevents digging below ground. Court would be at concourse level, with seats going up.
