I would think more than 12k would likely. If they go just over 10k for a sellout now there is room for more than 2000 seats above and around the student section. Somewhere the math isn't adding up. I believe the math goes astray when you have the current sellout capacity at just over 10k. It's gotta be lower than that in reality.

It's possible that currently not everyone gets a real seat during a sell out. Also with bleachers you can cram in more people than they are designed for.

Haven't seen anything recently on dome renovation plans but one of the early proposals included modifying the exterior walls to allow for expanded seating. Earlier this year there was a comment from a knowledgeable source about expected cost of improvement totals in the $40,000,000 range, so it will be more than paint.
Personally, I would be fine with seating in the 12 to 14 thousand range. I fully expect the fb program to be making significant improvements in the next few years with corresponding growth in attendance but I would prefer the sellouts to be at premium prices and more realistic home crowds for the less exciting games.

I've caught wind that there is to be an open house for the Sanford Coyote Sports Center this coming Sunday from 7-8:30 PM. I'm ready to finally see this place in person. The event on Sunday is for students only. HP members and those who put deposits down for bball season tickets will be invited Tuesday, Aug 30 to tour the new facilties before the volleyball game.

I didn't catch that detail. I think I'd rather wait for the HP tour.

Per this article from the USD website the arena open house for new and returning students is on August 21 and the open house for the general public is on Tuesday, August 30. Doors open at 6 PM and the Coyote volleyball team open the arena with a 7 PM game vs the Fighting Hawks. Admission is $1.00 and includes a free t-shirt. Lets make the home opener volleyball match one of many full houses in the new arena.

I'm guessing that the VB attendance records and averages will be much higher this year. Catastrophically higher.

Yotes win their first game on the new soccer field. Even a tie would have been a very good decision considering the opponent, a win is very impressive. Idaho is reigning Big Sky champion and I believe returned all 11 starters.

Hearing that the preliminary designs are coming together for the Dome renovation and they will be seeking a date with the regents to request their approval, probably early 2017. The work will be done in phases with the first priority being new FB locker rooms and related amenities, plus outdoor turf practice fields. These are considered prerequisites for competing evenly in the recruiting game.
Nothing happens without a huge commitment by alumni and supporters to fund the work. Due to a large amount of mechanical and infrastructure expenses, the first phase will likely cost $25 to $30 million.

Funny, I heard something similar last night but with an expedited time frame, like as soon as this season is over work was going to start. Part of the infrastructure is already there with the basketball court and weight room up top, that will be the concourse, underneath the locker rooms, and a grandstand mirroring the east side.

Part of the infrastructure is already there with the basketball court and weight room up top, that will be the concourse, underneath the locker rooms, and a grandstand mirroring the east side. I would think that would not be that difficult to do. In the email for suggestions I put that they should open another concourse where the old weight room is and add seats to that side. Also add another entrance over there as it gets crowded by the main entrance.
