It helps when Mick doesn't give a sarcastic response to reasonable questions and mainly tries to indulge people that ask questions about non-USD related topics. God forbid he observes the teams and gives his opinions on those observations in a live chat...

Everyone is sarcastic in some way. Hard not to be with what's happened in Coyote sports this fall.

I don't participate in a lot of live-chats, but planned to do so today. I guess it's not happening?

Disappointing there was no communication from Mick that the weekly chat was not happening. I know we can all do better as fans and participate on the chat more, but you would think the Argus could run things more professionally. I know TV posted online that the SDSU chat would not happen this afternoon - they moved it to a live chat from their exhibition BB games tonight. Mick could send out a similar message. Not a good way to build participation.
Well - hopefully next week.

Par for the course! I stopped subscribing to the AL 5 yrs ago, stopped reading AL print over 3 years ago and stopped reading AL online over a year ago. Just can't justify supporting the AL with its failed level of coverage. If you compare writers efforts and approach....Either MG is doing a below average job or TV is going 'above and beyond'. I've thrown my consumer resources towards JH and Yankton paper. JH does a chat as well. I suggest everyone attend...I think you'll find it much more substantive!
If consumers don't make the AL pay for its choices then nothing will change.

If consumers don't make the AL pay for its choices then nothing will change. I certainly understand your thoughts in regards to the Argus. For full disclosure I am not happy with the Argus coverage of USD athletics. It has gotten a little better this year though. The Argus keeps track of user interest through clicks and participation on weekly chats and game chats. SDSU has way more participation from fans on both. SDSU clicks on stories are more than double USD stories. Ask Mick sometime - he will tell you he would like more articles - it is interest driven. There is not a conspiracy - the Managing Editor of the Argus is Patrick Lalley (USD grad that attends some football and basketball games every year and even wears Yote gear around town at times). We all need to work on building our interest and more coverage will happen. Whether we like it or not the Argus is the dominant daily paper in the immediate region. It will be better for USD if we can get more coverage.

I completely agree, however, it comes down to 'chicken or the egg' I guess. I'm from the camp that when the AL provides better quality coverage I will provide more interest in their paper as I bring as much interest in the Coyotes as I possibly can. Increased USD fan interest is not going to make MG tweets, chats, and other contributions more substantive. Take tonight's coverage of the SD vs SDSU volleyball game...all one has to do is compare the tweets of MG, JH, & JT to see a stark contrast.

Looks like Mick didn't even make the trip to Youngstown. He is tweeting from the HS playoffs.

Stu Whitney (@stuwhitney) 4/29/13, 5:02 PM I'm going to resist the punch line here. MT @sdcoyotessid: Relive the best moments from USD athletics this past year on highlight reel. ----------------------------------------------------- Above is a retweet from Stu Whitney of the Argus Leader. If I had a subscription to the Argus I would cancel.
