Everyone do me a favor and never quote CF again. I ignored him but apparently of you quote him I'm exposed to his cap again.

Has anyone looked at the schedule for next Fall...? Only 5 home games again and the first home game isn't until mid Sept. I know we talked about this before, but I think it's hard to get fans excited about the program when you don't get to see the Yotes play at home until the 3rd game of the season. We used to have 6 home games... Maybe the admin is banking on us having a home playoff game...?
Also, does anyone know when DDAYS will be this coming year? Guessing Oct 7th vs Youngstown or the 14th vs Indiana St...?

Unless we have a 12 game schedule or can sell out a non conference game we will be at 5 home games. Gotta have a game at an FBS school, then the other two non conference games have to be part of home and homes.
Thats the best we can do with an 11 game schedule unless we can draw enough fans to pay teams to come play us.

Road trip to Des Moines week 1 on Sept 2. Was just looking at photos of their stadium online. Doesn't look like a very good place to watch football. With the track on the outside of the field, the fans are a long ways away from the action. With it being about 3 and a half hour drive, it may be worth considering.

I'll be so starved for sports by the time of college football's opening weekend that a 3 1/2 hour drive isn't even a question.
Their stadium holds over 14k but they don't seem to draw a crowd for football. They had an average attendance of just over 2k last year. I'm hoping there is more red than blue in attendance for that game.

Dakota Day is 10-7 vs YSU.
I think they value the bye week and it seems to be a conference agreement to play 11. In a few years the calendar is such they show a 12th game but every non-conference game is TBA except the FBS game if memory serves me correctly.

No question the FBS pay day game is the reason for most years having only 5 home games. Usually the other 2 slots are one home and one road against a FCS team. Just the reality of the budget I guess. It would be nice to not have to play the FBS game every year.

Occasionally 12 game schedules are allowed depending on when the opening weekend falls on the calendar. I believe the NCAA are considering a move to make the schedule 12 games every year though.

I wish the conference would make a move to have a bye week during the season. I am not a fan of having our bye come just 3 games into the season.

I've officiated college games there and it's not a bad stadium. Remember they were scholly D-1 years ago, and they maintain the facility really well because of the Drake Relays. Plan to be there for sure

Drake campus isn't in the greatest part of town but it is very close to downtown Des Moines. Very fun downtown with loads of bars and restaurants. I plan on holding court at the Hessen Haus and then moving the party over to the High Life Lounge.
