I suggest a small bronze statue of a Coyote with a dead rabbit in his mouth!

I would like to see them design a trophy that symbolizes futility. The obvious futility of vermillion college actually winning a game and it also represents the futility of SDSU dragging the thing to the danger dome every other year.

Maybe the bison will give us the Dakota marker since we are obviously the only SD school capable of beating them. They are getting tired of the storage and maintenance fees associated with never giving it up and dragging it to the high school stadium that is coughlin alumni. They need an actual challenge.

How about a big buffalo or something, would be a cool trophy. How about a trophy of I-90. Whoever wins owns the other half of I-90 for that year. (I am spit balling here).

Won't be going to you for any insight on history as USD is likely the only institution in South Dakota that wasn't founded as a college then changed their name to try and act like they are in the same boat as South Dakota's finest institution.

Gosh, that was such an impressive win. I remember how much it helped you guys in getting selected to the playoffs. For those of you Yote fans who like to wave that win in our faces, ask yourself if the other teams that beat the bison in the conference season are teams you would consider to be really good programs. Missiouri State, Indiana State, Youngstown State. Now compare that group to this one. SDSU, UNI, Illinios State, Western Illinios. The first group are the ones that have beat NDSU in conference play during their remarkable run. The latter are the ones that have made the playoffs and won games there during that run. Hmmm, which one is more impressive? Guess I would rather be in the playoffs, since our program has larger goals than one big win mid season. I suppose it's just a general program mindset sort of thing.

I forgot that Indiana State did make the playoffs a little while ago. I still stand by the two groups and one being vastly better than the other.

There is no doubt that the NDSU win was a big win. There is no doubt the the Minnesota win was a big win. There is no doubt that the Eastern Washington win was a big win. The problem is that those wins were isolated occurrences that never led to bigger and better things. The Jacks have been good year and in year out pretty much every year and have multiple playoff appearances. The Coyotes have never really been close to the playoffs. The Coyotes best year since the transition at best is equal to SDSU's worst year so what does that tell you. We can wear the red goggles all we want and talk about isolated and rare big wins but the difference between the two programs is night and day. The Jacks show up most weeks and the Yotes only occasionally show up. It would appear with the new era of Coyote football getting going that the program may have a chance to get closer to SDSU on the field. We can only hope so because I am tired of losing to them and many of those losses were in games where one team did not belong on the same field as the other.

CF... Pretty sure you miss the point of the smack thread... it's to bag on the bunnies, not the Yotes. Wondering if the bunny posters on here want you on their side...? Most times I can't tell who you belong with more, them or us? Your posts suggest you would be better suited to be a non-Coyote. Your username is certainly not indicative of you being an actual Coyote fan... Optimism is the future of Yote athletics... and yet you never seem to see that... I guess when you are always the pessimist, life has more surprises for you because you always expect to be disappointed.

While I enjoyed and agreed with your reverse smack, I found it kind of sad that one of your three "big wins" was against a 6-5 EWU team.

At the time I think they were rated #1 and coming off a FCS championship. Their losses were to Washington, Montana, Montana St, and Portland St.

I guess when you are always the pessimist, life has more surprises for you because you always expect to be disappointed. Regardless if it's a smack thread it's stupid to point out one win against NDSU as a win that somehow puts USD into a comparable status with SDSU. The NDSU win was one isolated win but that is it. So using common sense means I am less of a Coyote fan, so realizing that the SDSU program is much better than USD's makes me somehow less of a fan. It's actually quite stupid to not realize just how far behind USD is to SDSU right now in football. I am not going to ignore facts to somehow seem more like a fan. We should all expect more out of the program and hopefully that "more" is going to get kick started beginning with this season. If Coyote nation doesn't realize we are actually behind, we will never take the necessary steps to catch up.
