Don't know much about UC Davis, but I'm slightly optimistic. Say 27 - 20 Coyotes.

I don't know much about them either, but have no idea what to expect from us this year, especially with all the starters we've already lost to injuries. Started high on us, but leaning towards a 7 point loss now.

Don't know much about UC Davis, but I'm slightly optimistic. Say 27 - 20 Coyotes. I would guess around 27-13. Davis is playing without their veteran coach of two decades for the first year, and seem lost and discouraged under the new rookie coach, a guy from this little school down the road. Most of the new staff are just his young friends, and they have no energy whatsoever. They are just going through the motions, content to just sit at the bottom of the Big Sky where everybody thinks they belong. They have been devastated by the injury bug, and just lost several starters from their big "Blue and Gold" scrimmage that ended camp. They don't even know who their quarterback is going to be yet. They also fold when they have to travel far, like last season against Eastern Washington. This game should be a piece of cake.

You can write it down now Yotes...the Ags will be tired and sore from that long, long bus ride after their non-chartered flight. Their game plan will be timid and predictable and nobody will be held accountable.

This quote comes from a poster on the Aggies' fan forum from today:
"My Machiavelli inkling says a few of us should sign up for the SD fan website and tell em "we haven't even decided our QB", "we're breaking in a rookie coach", and "we're plagued with injuries". Hopefully, this information would get back to their players... ... which is all verifiable information."

Honestly....UC Davis is really no threat. Without their coach, and no named Starting QB I will be surprised if the Yotes lose. I think this first game will tell a lot. I think the Coyote offense will be one of the best in the conference this year. Defense...ehh. I think we put up 25-30 points, but it just depends on how much our defense can hold.
27-13 Coyotes

I'd still be surprised if Randy Wright isn't the QB USD sees on Saturday. Let's not just discount him, he's got experience. Plus, Davis returns 17 other starters, including a bunch of running backs and some top receivers. Special teams was always Davis' biggest strength back in the Great West days....even though their all conference punter graduated, that's still got to be a concern with USD. Coyotes didn't exactly do the greatest in special teams last year.

Wright has big career numbers, but that's b/c the coach stuck with him for 3 years. His first year was his best, numbers and wins have gone down every year. Last year he threw as many picks as TDs. Davis has also had injuries, and Coach Gould was tabbed late as coach, which affected recruiting. Special teams are an open question. Their coach has a rebuilding job on his hands.
Yotes 30-10

An Aggies' prediction:
Aggies to feature 2 Tight Ends, 2 Running Backs.
"Insert QB here" to go 15-20 for 210 and 1 TD. Backfield rushes for 250 combined with 2 TD. Throw in a defensive or special teams TD for good measure.
Aggies win 28-10. Here's to a homer hoping.
Football season is here!

The team has been hit with injuries hard, and will play over 15 freshmen / true freshmen. Not a good sign.

How about as fans we just will the team to win. Maybe there will be a few injuries to overcome but when that dome is rocking and the opponent is even (which I think is the case this week) the fans are more important than ever.

Can't wait for that first kickoff. I think we will all learn a lot about the team after tomorrow.
If SD wins I think it could be a 4-5-6 win season.
If SD loses though - two wins may be more like it.
UC Davis will be a solid squad - better than Colgate last year for sure IMO.

I'm predicting a win for the Yotes. 11 point victory with a lot of good things to cheer about and some things we still need to work on.

Will Coach Gould have developed a running game for the young Aggies, with an offensive line that is both young, and injured? Can Wright play error free? The Aggies will have problems with the Yotes size.
