Someone on here linked us to the Indiana State fan board, so I went over to see what's up. There are so e real good people there, but there is a poster that is a Missouri State fan which called us the worst team in the MVC, and said he was embarrassed that the MVC let in schools like USD, SDSU, and NDSU. He basically said we were academically not at the same level, blah blah blah.
So after setting him straight that USD wasn't the worst team in the league, Missouri State is, he ranted about quality of education. So I thought, you know what, the guy maybe has a point. So I googled it. I went to stateuniversity.com and researched it. Not only does MSU rank below USD, it is also below SDSU and NDSU.
I just thought I'd share. Lol

Lol Wow, what a bitter and confused individual. We are their equal in football and better than them academically, yet we don't compare. That is some sound logic!

I have been very pleased with my interaction with the Indiana State fans over on their board, but that one Missouri State fan is just bad. Pathetic embarrassment that his team loses to ours, and now seems to think that we have no education. Forbes ranks us 330th, Missouri State comes in at a prestigious 526th. Missouri is pretty much just a methed up version of Iowa anyways, not too surprised.

This debate took place in the middle of the night, and needless to say, he had me pretty pissed off. We did exchange private messages, and after we both got through the obligatory telling each other to F off, he finally said that his point was not about academics but rather more along the lines of facilities, population base as to potentially affect any TV revenue, things like that.
He did apologize to me, and said he was out of bounds calling me ignorant. I think his real frustration lies in that he does want Missouri State to do well in sports, and I am thinking more along the lines of basketball and baseball. He acknowledged the football program sucks and has for 30 years. He also acknowledged the fact our universities academically were very good as well. I think deep down he's a decent guy, maybe had a cocktail or two under his belt, and went off that losing to us was total bullshit.
Like so many schools, I think people think TV contracts are going to be out there and there will be all kinds of revenue from them. The only schools that are going to reap that benefit are the BCS schools, and we have to live in the reality that our funds will come from ticket sales, private donations, fund from foundations, and things like that. People, that isn't all bad. I don't ever want to have to make a decision to compromise what's best for our program if a few bucks are involved. Quite honestly, I have been to hundreds of big time sporting events, and I enjoy USD as much as anything, in particular football Saturday. My kids have left the nest, so often times we travel with them as well. It's a total blast. Last year for example, at Indiana State, I tailgated with many parents of players and had a blast. I hope they come and experience what USD is all about. If they do, then we will have less confrontations like I had last night. I for one am damned proud to be a USD grad and athletic backer. I love the Coyotes, and that will never change.
I invite Agrinut to join in future discussions.

Interesting (and well written) story. Regarding TV contracts, I wish the MVFC was a little more aggressive. Out here in Western SD we get zip on the tube if you want to watch any Valley teams. We do get the Big Sky on Me TV and the Audience Network, however.
I bet there are more than a few folks who would rather see USD a few times a year as opposed to the barrage of teams like South Carolina, Penn State, Washington, etc. we do see. No offense meant to those teams of course.....

I talked to a coach in Arkansas about Missouri State cause one of his kids was on the team ... it doesn't have a great name in that area, that's for sure.
