When you are 0 fer on 4th down, and lose the third down conversion battle, you are not going to win many games.

Great I can't wait for the pompous BunnyRabbit BS for the next 12 months. I really doubt they will act pompous since this game means nothing to them. It's just another game on the schedule. Their rival is NDSU. Oh, that's right. I completely forgot about that. How foolish on my part.

Missed opportunities and all that, but what gets me the most is the absolutely atrocious game by the refs. Obvious fumble called incomplete, JVM easily has a first down on 4th and we finally see the chains come out to confirm the horrible spot, huge helmet hit on Terry that went uncalled, and just awful spots all day. The MVFC either really wants another playoff team, or they raided a nearby middle school for the refs. It's not often, if ever, you see a game have officiating that bad. Valley needs replay and competent officials.

Just watched the replay of the JVM play 1234 writes about. I think its clear the spot was generous by two feet. Overall, refs were not a factor in the game.

See what I mean? It's probably best that I don't post anymore today.
Let me close with, Hate State!

The JVM play in discussion starts at 11:48 in the fourth quarter for those who recorded the game. The question the ref had to consider was the location of the ball carried in JVM's left arm/hand. The ref was about 10 feet down the sideline from where JVM went out of bounds. No question it was a close play but I think the evidence was clear: not a first down. Great effort nonetheless by JVM.

The SDSU guy (Elmore) hit with his shoulder and connected with Terry in the shoulders and knocked him off his feet. Nice try. USD's pick wasn't a pick either, considering his foot came down out of bounds.

Bottom line, we had our chances. Having to settle on field goals instead of touchdowns, allowing big third down plays, special team errors, etc. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth as a promising seasons comes to a halt with not much of a chance next week.

Rough day for the Coyotes. We couldn't capitalize on ANY of the breaks we had. To win you need to score more than 1 touchdown. It just sucks thinking about how different the outcome would if been had the Coyotes had healthy running backs. Hard to win when you can't run the ball. Say what you want about the officials, the Yotes did not make enough plays to win today. All that being said, it was a fun atmosphere at the dome today. My 2 year old had a great time and talked about the game a lot when we got home today. A Yote W would have been awesome but I'm the end watching how much fun my kid had at the game today was fantastic. Keep fighting South Dakota!

It's been often stated that great defense and a strong running game are the two things teams absolutely must have to win in the Valley. I guess we thought we had a good chance of winning this game given last week's Montana game. Guess not. The running game was non-existent today, which is what I feared.
Is this loss on the coaches? Not altogether for sure but I don't care about placing blame. Blame gets you nowhere as I stated last year. Hard work is what gets you ahead. For the Coyotes that means the players and coaches need to re-dedicate themselves. Are they made of such stuff? I think so. I hope so.

No quit in the Coyotes!! Bunny fans were sweating bullets after the blocked FG and the tremendous hit on Zenner for the fumble! Hurt Yote running backs really changed the game. How would the bunnies have done with Zenner at 50%?? Earl had over 300 yds passing with no running game! Hang in there Yotes you're on the RISE!!!

It was very interesting to see the chains come out. Six home games this year and NO SHIT, this was the very first measurement all year for either team. The awful spots have been going on all year as well. How about the one catch SDSU had in the second half that the WR caught it and went down at the 47 and rolled an extra 4 yards to the USD 49. The refs spot it there and thank god there was the only holding penalty of the day on SDSU to bring it back. The bad spots have been all year, not just today. Like everyone has said, it is very hard to win games when you don't have a running game. We are on our 5th running back of the year. Jasper Sanders, Erv Archambau, Bouma, Roberts, and JVM. Oh and the kicking game didn't help again today. The Dome was rocking after that touchdown and then we miss the extra point to tie and the whole Dome is just deflated. That killed us, but hey, every time he misses and I bring it up, everyone says, "He's only a freshman." Kicking is Kicking.
