Official game thread for tonight's game vs. the Texas State Bobcats. My overview: Overall, two win-less teams playing sounds like a snooze fest. But at (0-3),(0-4) both have lost to some pretty suitable opponents. Here is my complete overview of Texas State and their basketball program. Last season USD lost to TSU by a score of 93-92 in Vermillion. Texas State this season looks to be struggling, bad. They opened up with Sul Ross State University, in exhibition and only won by 28. Now, you would think that is a large margin, until you look at the fact that teams in their conference beat them by more. Then, they played Houston, a very suitable and challenging program and lost by 6. Definitely their best showing of the season. Then, Stephen F. Austin, Oral Roberts, and SMU. They lost those three games by a combined score of 45 points. This is definitely a winnable game for the Coyotes, and I see them finally pulling off that first win. Looking at the schedule, and seeing how good the teams the Coyotes have already played puts us in good shape for the future. Upcoming games: 11/25: v.s. Texas State 11/30: Graceland 12/2: Utah Valley 12/5: Air Force 12/7: Wyoming In that 5 game stretch I see 3 maybe 4 wins. That would put our record at 4-3 or 3-4. That would definitely be a huge uplift to this team. Guess we will have to wait and find out. Go Yotes! Attachments:

This is a game I would venture to bet the coaches and players didn't look forward to....this was necessitated by the ESPN BracketBuster....the return trip for that home game two seasons ago. The only plus to that whole series is that Montana State will return to the Dome. The ONLY plus for a program like USD. Just play a clean game down there tonight and come home.

You look at Texas State and say they are struggling and that we should win, and I bet their fans have the same assessment of us. I don't know if we take this one, I sure hope we do, but I've got a feeling the road woes continue. We're sitting at 347th out of 351 teams in PPG and 348th in FG%. Wins are looking very hard to come by, and I'll be very pleasantly surprised if we take even 3 out of the next 5 games, but this season is looking like it might be a rough one.

6 minutes to go, down by 4. I'll be quite impressed with we finish the comeback, but this has sounded like another lackluster game for the most part.

Coyotes got the ball with 4:41 left, down by 2, but threw it away.

Well, Texas State scored as time expired, but it was a 2, so Coyotes win! 57-56 victory at Texas State in a very impressive effort down the stretch. First victory for Joey James as head coach.

Way to fight back for the win on the road. Early in the season but the one thing I have noticed in box scores is our lack of free throw attempts. I believe we are bottom in nation at free throw attempts per game. The NCAA made a rule change and fouls are being called at a record clip.
