Here we go, shot at the apparent team to beat in the Summit as well as a shot at an early lead for first place in the Summit. A great way to end the homestand, let's make it five in a row!

That's one heck of an exclamation mark to end the homestand sweep! Yotes win 75-61, and now hold first place all to ourselves! Rowson had one heck of a game, and Thoseby broke out of his shell big time today. First 3 game Summit win streak for USD, hoping we can keep this ball rolling on the road.

Rather ragged at times, if the Yotes make half of their lay-ups, and most of their free throws, in the first half, it could have been over even earlier. Agree with #s, Rowson had a great game, Thoseby contributed as did others, but Bos also had a very good game.
Overall, I thought a good defensive effort.

This game was an absolute treat to watch tonight in Vermillion. The team was jacked up, the coaching staff was awesome, the fans were amazing...TOTAL FREAKING BLAST! I haven't been to a men's basketball game like that in way too long. Every player on the USD roster contributed tonight, from the starters to the guys off the bench to the red-shirts helping cheer their team on. We even had guys on the bench counting down the shot-clock for change! =)
USD had a great game plan tonight and executed it very well and there was much to be pleased about. I was most pleased when IPFW tried to full court press the Yotes. You could tell Coach James and his staff had worked on breaking that press after the trouble they had in closing out the DU game. It was zero trouble for them tonight. Gruis and Flack got in to foul trouble early in this one, but so did poor Steve Forbes (who was picked on relentlessly by the band and had a pretty rough go of it) so it was basically a wash down low, but both guys played really well while they were in. Flack had some monster blocks and Gruis was steady as usual. Karim was the best player by far on the court tonight. Bos, Thoseby, Trey, E-Rob, and Larson all played great minutes as well.
The Yotes team we saw tonight was the same Yotes team that should have beaten K-State and Wyoming and not the team that got blown away by Moorehead. When these guys are clicking they are scary good. We saw glimpses of it tonight, but we haven't seen a full game of it. Big tests against Omaha and Western Illinois coming up on the road. We'll know we have something brewing if we can start winning away from the Dome. The confidence is there now and it seems like things are starting to fall in to place for this squad. Let's keep it up and keep on getting better. Thanks Coyotes for a great time!

Seems like the Yotes are playing great basketball. I am very proud of them, Coach James and his staff have done a very thorough job getting prepared for these games. I wont say I told you so to any people on the boards :)But just from watching the team those couple of times this year I could see what Coach James was trying to do and that it was only a matter of time before the team got going and used to change.
Looking forward to seeing more progression. I still think Joey is a good choice for a 3 or more year contract after this year. I know a lot of you would like to see a "higher profile" guy but there is no guy that bleeds the Coyote red more than this guy. He puts his life in to the program and its evident from the improvements and fight that the Yotes have.
Well done to all involved

If we can keep this winning streak going through the road trip we are going to make a lot of noise in the Summit this year. A lot. Can you imagine the energy we'd have if we're hosting NDSU at 5-0? And perhaps SDSU at 6-0? The teams we're playing aren't as good as the ones we've beat, so I have faith. Very excited to see how we come out on Thursday at WIU.
Joey James definitely lives for the program, no questioning that. He would love to be the head coach in the long-term, and if he finishes with us in the top half of the conference I imagine he'll get to keep the job pretty easily.

Well done to all involved Based on what I have watched in the last two games, I agree with much of what you say. The game last night gives a lot of credence to the ability of the coaches to get the job done. Played deep into the bench and everyone contributed. The challenge is to take this type of play on the road. I like what I see from Joey James (game time, interviews, etc.), and I hope he is very successful. The caveat is that although he could 'win out', he still would only be able to earn a one year contract under current rules. Most people with any understanding of this support a change to multi year contracts.

Great win and incredible homestand for sure! Even the most optimistic among us were not predicting a 3-0 start in the Summit. In my novice opinion, the next step is to show some consistency on the road. We were close against K State and Wyoming (sort of a road game), but some of those need to turn into W's going forward. The Morehead and Youngstown games were nothing short of disastrous. I think 1-1 on this week's road swing is a realistic expectation. You're not going to win all of them, but if we can win half of the road league games and all (why not?) of the home ones, we should get a nice seed for the tourney (which had GD better be more of a home environment this year than last!).

All of the road games will be tough, but WIU's style and discipline, will provide a big test. It's great that we're hitting the road with such momentum.
The Yotes have already sent a message to the League, now let's show them our staying power.
I was wondering about James' rotation of players earlier in the year, if using so many players was to the detriment of developing others and the team as a whole. I was wrong, and wow, are we going to be tough if Rowson and Thoseby are scoring like they did against Fort Wayne. Very impressed at how the whole team is contributing and doing so in a very unselfish way. Great job to Joey and the staff, keep it going.
Fight, South Dakota!

Great win Saturday and an impressive homestand. I share in everyone’s excitement to see the Coyotes at the top of the Summit League standings, but this race has just begun. We have 11 regular-season league games remaining, seven of which are on the road. There really are no easy outs, and we’re not the sort of dominant program that can simply survive too many off nights, which are unavoidable. We just need to keep the fire stoked and continue to build chemistry.
A Summit League regular season championship is not out of the question, but my primary concern is entering the SL Tourney with confidence and momentum. I don’t think 3-6 seeding will matter much, given the parity we’re seeing. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is for Coyote fans to purchase whatever tourney tickets remain. SDSU will again have a major home-court advantage in every tourney contest. I don’t expect us to achieve anything close to balance, but we must begin to close that gap.
NDSU, in my opinion, remains the league favorite and an unfavorable matchup. We folded badly in both of last year’s contests, and we’ll be facing the same team this year. I’d love to see us put together another performance like Saturday’s. I’m sick of getting embarrassed by NDSU.

How do single-game tickets for the Summit Tourney work? An all-session pass looks too spendy to me at $125. Perhaps there is a student rate I could find. Last year the only student tickets I heard about for the event was for the women's final, only $5 and a free bus ride.
