Yotes score 4 straight to get within 2 and 1:06 to go. If they play "D" the good guys have got a chance.

Norris gets called for a real cheesy offensive foul and the Jackies have the ball and a 2 pt. lead with 15.2 left. Remember Carlson has been pushing off on him the whole game. Big surprise, State gets a call. What a joke!

Yotes get a steal but turn it right over. Of course a quick foul and if the Jackies can convert they have the game. Nice comeback by the Yotes and almost a complete choke by Brooksville.

Yotes lose by 2 at the D Dome. 2 losses this week instead of 2 wins. Oh well. Just not good enough.
Jack fans will be convinced now that they are at least a Sweet 16 Team. Kind of like thinking that Nebraska should play football with them in Coughing Alumni.
I'll be looking forward to the comments by those of you that were actually at the game.

Decided to take a look over here to see what was being discussed. sd4ever: do you report much without the juvenile name calling? Geez.
Anyway, I thought the Coyotes looked very good against NDSU and sure gave the Jacks a tough time this afternoon. I know no USD fans will be happy with the weekend record but there's no question this team has clearly proved it's a force to be reckoned with in the Summit League. Good game...looking forward to another battle in Frost.

Converted a six point lead to a two point loss. Oh well. I just listened to it on the radio, and a very frustrating game nontheless.

It's usually a cheap excuse, but I am a firm believer that this game was settled by the refs. We should have won handily, but the refs had other thoughts. Dykstra should have fouled out before his technical, which was ejection-worthy in itself. Pathetic game by the officials, MVP for State was far and away the referees. We could have made more plays to win the game, but shouldn't have had to, honestly. The peak hit when Joey James was running down the sideline trying to get a timeout after we stole the inbound pass at the end of the game, but there was conveniently no one around to hear him. Bullshit officiating, plain and simple.

Yotes HAVE to be more physical, got totally owned on the glass. And almost nothing from Bos, gotta be a leader and step up. Thought Flack would have more of an impact, but foul trouble like everybody else. Not blaming the refs for this one.

He was clearly going for the ball and not trying to hurt Gruis. Gruis should have known that and not overreacted. Gruis should have received a "T" for getting into Dykstra's face after the play. I agree that that the officiating was poor, but it wasn't one-sided. That were missed called for both squads. It was a good, exciting game. Can't wait for SDSU to run USD out of the gym in Frost again.

The call on Dykstra was correct. Shoulder to shoulder was ok but he also raked Gruis accrosst the face after which was totally unnecessary! Was an exciting game and both teams played hard. You state fans must really be happy you had a 5 yr head start in D1 and finally have won 1 of 3 in the dome and that by 2 points!!

That one stung, but it is weird to say Thursday stung even more.
1. Effort and hustle were not lacking, thank you players for playing your heart out. 2. Don't forget Tyler Larson made a great defensive play shortly before the turnover, his steal helped us get within two. You feel bad the turnover happened, but it wasn't what cost us the game. The first five minutes of the second half and maybe the last two minutes of the first half cost us the game. IMO 3. Two of the three refs were inconsistent, blowing lots of calls BOTH ways. It seemed that one guys with a little grey hair just flipped a coin. One call for USD the next call for SDSU. I will not say the refs cost us the game, but I will say I walked away from that game noticing the refs. A sign of a good ref is one you don't notice. If you ask me. Tough game to ref though because every close call is a bad call from one sides perspective. 4. The flagrant foul was absolutely the right call, there was not much of the "going for the ball" in that play. He was behind him as Trevor went up to dunk. Trevor maybe reacted more than he needed to, but it was a bad bad foul by Dykstra. 5. State had one more play go their way then we did, plain and simple. I will say they made three baskets that were absolute prayers. The one that went about twenty feet in the air in the first half and the running weird jumper (I think Bittle, but maybe Carlson) put up in front of SDSU bench. Both were 1/100 type weird shots. The breaks fell their way. Maybe we can get some breaks in Frost.
Just a couple thoughts before I head to Brookings to watch the ladies! GO YOTES

i agree with usdlaw, all in all, Saturday could have gone either way. Coyotes got the steal they wanted in that last scrum, but just too much uncertainty in the last play...call a timeout? where to go?
i hate the whole 'moral victory' crap, but i will say, i really like our team next season. Bunch of sophomores out there right now, another year with Norris, Thoseby, Larson, Bos, Flack, Kasperbauer, Robertson, etc., together will be huge. I'm not giving up on this season, but we're set up pretty darn well for the future.

Can't wait for SDSU to run USD out of the gym in Frost again. I'm glad to see a Jacks fan comes into a USD message board and decides to spam it with how "superior" his team is. Get a life, go comment on SDSU's message board and keep your arrogance to yourself. ANYWAYS about the flagrant. There is a picture of the foul and dykstra isn't even looking at the ball, his intentions were to hit Trev as hard as he could. So tell me how you would react if someone that you have been battling since high school did that to you? I'm sure you would just walk away like a mature adult since you're oozing with confidence on this message board. The thing about the summit league is that the rankings don't matter. Take IUPUI out of it and it is a complete toss up. Look how close some of these games are, USD lost to NDSU and SDSU by a combined total of 5 points. State won both games this weekend by a total of 3 points. There is no team that stands out above the rest in this league. Only God knows the outcome of these games and if USD gets the W in frost, know that I will be the adult and keep my comments positive and I will not create an account on SDSU's board and talk smack.
