...A good way for Ryan Miller to move to the top of the list would be to convince his cousin to join the women's team as she would look much better in red that blue and yellow. LOL. Not gonna happen. But, here's an article from today's Mitchell Daily Republic with the definitive story of the Miller-family basketball tradition.

How about Chris Jans Lamont Paris or Marty Richter? Have they shown any interest? They certainly seem qualified, but I'm having a hard time finding much of a connection to the area on those first two names. I would love to see the list of who all applies for the job. The members of this board should put in a joint application. How can you turn down a 50 man coaching team?

Keep in mind, a consulting firm like the one USD hires branches out nation-wide, looks for coaches on the rise, or so I've been told. Ultimately, of course, it's USD's decision, but that list the firm will bring back will likely have assistant or associate head coaches from across the nation. (Could have former HCs mixed in).

Yes. This search firm is Eddie Folger, former coach at Vanderbilt, amongst other places. Coach Folger is well known throughout the country and has a strong pulse on all up and coming coaches. My guess is he will bring Herbster a list of 4-5 people, that have been pre-qualified. By that I mean they have said they will take the job if offered, know what the salary and terms are,and what the pay is for assistant coaches. That way Herbster can make the decision as fast as he wants after the interview process.
My bet is by this time next week we have our new coach under contract.

You really think we'll have our coach this time next week? That seems rather soon, especially since the one we choose may be in a postseason tournament. I know time is a factor with the approaching signing period for recruits, so it would be nice to have our next coach ASAP.

There are something like 80+ jobs open on the D-1 level, and to find and name a coach as quickly as possible given the battle for recruits is imperative. As we have said before, Herbster is a basketball guy. He understands the necessity for timing to get recruits. The Dukes of the world already have their class in place, but schools like ours, there is a lot of talent out there looking and hopefully a quicker hire means some positive recruiting aspects. Of the list we have bantered about, I would guess there are 2 candidates that will be coaching next week. I'm proud of the people we have interested in the job. We are going to get a good coach.

Based on recent history, I would expect an announcement around 6pm Monday night.

Based on recent history, I would expect an announcement around 6pm Monday night. You can blame Joey for that not Herbster. The public part of that started with Joey's late night Twitter statement.

The public part of that started when it came out of Herbster's mouth. I'm sure they'll both do better next time.
