USD has officially announced via press release that we will be undergoing a new head coaching search for our men's basketball program.

I'm a little surprised they weren't searching earlier.

I'm a little surprised they weren't searching earlier. If there was this much backlash for making the announcement the day of tonight's women's game, I can't imagine how people would've reacted if it leaked that they had started a search before the season was even over.

Regarding the search, my understanding is that our budget resources should take a big bump this year. I believe that we will receive our first annual share of NCAA revenues this year, and that number should be about $1 million. This will make the job of hiring and retaining successful coaches much easier.

I'm a little surprised they weren't searching earlier. Do you really believe they haven't been? If you do, you are naive.

When Joey got the interim job, herbster had said that a number of quality candidates had put their name in the hat for the Job. No doubt they have guys in mind that they want to contact, and there are guys that have been watching what happened all season just waiting to throw their name in. At max it will take 4-6 weeks to name a new coach and I wouldn't be surprised if it was sooner. It would be best to have him in here early to get the ball rolling with the coach/player relationship. This is no doubt a very difficult time for this program and I think It could really test its grit. Hopefully this is a step forward and not a step back. It has a really unsettling feeling just hanging in limbo and not knowing what is gonna happen.

My two cents on the search, make sure Amy Williams gets to interview the candidates and she has to give a thumbs up to whoever is hired.

I'm curious to see what happens to Lloyd Williams at this point also. Williams, and the rest of the assistants for that matter. I wonder what retention, if any, will occur. If we're hiring an assistant from another school, then they will likely be looking for assistants to fill their coaching staff, as opposed to a head coach who brings his guys with.

Its also an interesting position considering Amy's job is obviously safe and we aren't sure what will happen to Lloyd. Who knows, maybe its not that big of a deal. Just something to keep on the radar I suppose.

Totally agree. Amy is a complete representative of USD, and would probably know more than any other interviewer.

I don't know the specifics of the NCAA revenue sharing program, but I do remember hearing the $1 million number from Sayler a few years back. And, the start date was to be 2014 - I think. Was it to start five years after our acceptance to D-1?

Ryan Miller would be perfect...great recruiter w/great connections...plus he's from Sd and has nice history of beating SDSU...no question he could get them to the dance....He'd be taking a big pay cut to come...but sounds like he's interested
