Saul Phillips, NDSU men's coach, will be named the new head coach at Ohio according to CBS Sports.

Also some talk the Western Illinois head coach Jim Molinari might be taking Craig Smith's old job with Nebraska

Smart move by Saul. It would take a long time to get NDSU any higher than they are now, and Ohio is a pretty good gig.

Besides making more money both Phillips and Bohl knew next season will be tough with the men's BB losing 6 seniors and FB losing 24. Naturally there are some delusional bison fans that think both teams in '14 will be as good as this past year or two. I think reality will hit them hard!

Naturally there are some delusional bison fans that think both teams in '14 will be as good as this past year or two. I think reality will hit them hard! Their football team will still be good, they will make the playoffs and be a top ten team in the FCS. Basketball on the other hand...they may slip to the bottom half of the Summit. I'm very glad we got Craig Smith before NDSU had a crack at him. This is really one more reason that the Summit really is there for the taking next year, not unrealistic at all for us to have a shot at taking the title if the transition to Coach Smith is smooth. Half the league may be replacing coaches, and it remains to be seen how everyone else turns out, but I think we're going to come out stronger than the rest.

I think NDSU will be a top 10 team to start the season, but I don't think they will finish there, and I'm not sure they'll make the playoffs. Also, please don't repeat this, but I think SDSU will be a top 10 team also, with more staying power than the Bizon.

They have players but lots of question marks on (what I consider) the most important group on defense.

It really is too early to predict, but I was basing it on some site making an early prediction for next year, and they mentioned SDSU in their 15. I don't really know the Jacks personnel, but based upon last years team, and they didn't lose as much talent as NDSU, I would expect a strong team again this year.

NDSU officially introduced Dave Richman as the next head coach for the Bison. Dave has been with the Bison for the last 11 years as a grad assistant, assistant coach, and the last 6 years as the associate head coach. He's a North Dakota native and NDSU grad, and seems to be the new stem on the Tim Miles coaching tree.

Here is a litmus test; NDSU has now gone with two internal hires of assistant coaches to succeed individuals that could be considered the most successful coaches in their respective sports at NDSU.
I, for one, am always very skeptical of the internal hire of a coach that has never been a head coach. I am probably jaded from the likes of Frank Solich. Time will tell.
