News has come out that UND and NDSU have agreed to play two football games, BOTH in Fargo, in 2015 and 2019. The buyout amounts are reported $145,000 and $125,000, with UND being allotted 500 tickets.
I know UND wanted this rivalry to continue, and they were only ever going to get it on these terms, but their AD is a fool for allowing this. This is such a slap to the face for UND, officially admitting that their rival is out of their league. The only chance UND has at a positive outcome would be pulling off at least one miraculous win, or if they managed to parlay this into a continuing Home-Home agreement.
Interesting that UND has now set up non-conference series with the other three Dakota schools, but seems to have no interest in the MVFC.

I suspect UND officials/decision makers would be open to joining the MVFC if there was an opening and a home for other sports. (I am aware there are UND message board posters who threaten to jump off tall buildings if UND considered leaving the Big Sky.) Schools on the east edge of the MVFC footprint would be hard to convince that another Dakota school -- the most difficult to travel to -- should be invited to the MVFC.

I think it was the only way the game would be scheduled (going to Fargo twice). UND has more to gain by getting these games scheduled than not doing so. As a regional football fan, I am happy to have this game on the future schedule.
UND in the same conference as the other Dakota schools is inevitable IMO.

I'm with you obc. I think it's only a matter of time before Youngstown heads somewhere else and UND is in the Valley.
