I was able to take advantage of the free open house for the new arena in Sioux Falls. The Summit Tournament's new home is impressive. There is alot of room to see the field of play in the suite areas and also a few open dining areas that can see the arena floor as well. There is a large gap in space between the upper bowl and the lower bowl. The lower bowl is normal with quite a few areas to enter the seating area. I think one of the signatures of the Premier Center is the upper deck. It feels like it is high and right on top of the floor. Very steep pitch with the seats. While sitting in the lower sections one can't see many of the seats in the upper bowl on the same side as one is sitting. The arena is obviously for basketball but is going to be very hockey friendly. Much better than the old Arena. The seats are all green. The lower bowl has cushioned seats whereas the upper level seats are hard back.
It appears to me that the Premier Center will seat about 8-10K for basketball. The facility is fresh looking and obviously very new. The concourses are easy to navigate. It has a feel that is completely different than the old arena or the Dakota Dome. It kind of has the feel of a small NBA arena as the seats soar above the floor but doesn't lose the intimate feel that arenas of 13,000 plus can do. I am sure Tom Douple will be impressed with the new home of the Summit Tourney. Hopefully that facility will host it for years to come uninterrupted.

I'm really excited to go see an event there. I really like the venue's ability to finally draw some good concerts to Sioux Falls (though I haven't seen any announced yet that are to my liking). For so long every act would play the Tyson in Sioux City, which really drove me crazy since Sioux Falls is a bit bigger and not at all out of their way. I've seen about a dozen shows at the Qwest/Century Link Center down in Omaha, and the Premier Center seems to be a scaled down version of that venue, so I would have to think the Premier Center would be a great place to see a show.
Did the Summit League tickets go on sale yet?

I believe the Sanford Center seats 12,000 for basketball.
