This post on the SDSU message board indicates that UMKC will announce sometime this school year that they are returning to the Summit League. Granted it is only a message board, but the person who posted it has a pretty good track record.

If the Summit were in any position to be picky UMKC wouldn't even be able to get Douple on the phone. Reality is we are just a couple defections away from losing our postseason auto bids, so getting a full D-1 member would help the health of the league. At the same time, this is rather disappointing as UMKC is going to do all they can to lower the level of competition in a league that has been pushing it's way towards the upper echelon of mid major conferences.
If true, who is ready to be in a conference that includes New Mexico State and other Great West defects? I do believe that if the WAC loses any of their full D-1 members they will no longer be eligible for autobids, and collapse VERY quickly. Any guesses where those teams would go? Probably to the conference that will take anyone just for the sake of survival, the Summit League. The commissioner would have the ability to pick and choose who can join, since no other conference will want most of these teams, and I could easily see this conference ballooning to 12 teams in the event of UMKC pushing the WAC to its demise.
All in all, I hope this isn't true.

UMKC is paying their basketball coach $250k(who they hired last year), they are trying to elevate their game. They are a good geographic fit as well and it gets the Summit to 10 schools which is the perfect number for a basketball conference.
Outside of NMSU, UMKC is the only WAC school I would want to add.

I heard this around the same time last year when we found out ORU was rejoining. Everything I've heard is that UMKC is back, although I haven't heard about it for a while.

Outside of NMSU or UMKC there are no WAC schools who will be in the SL anytime soon.

Per Jeremy Hoeck via Twitter, "Herbster is heading to Chicago this week for Summit League meetings". Could a UMKC announcement be around the corner?

Wow! I know Missouri hired a new coach in the offseason, and it was quite questionable since he had zero D1 experience. That's just the worst way to start off your tenure.
