I'm just not into moral victories anymore. We need to start winning these types of games. Blah, blah, blah... I'm gonna go ahead and assume (and hope) this is sarcasmĀ I thought he was serious and I agreed. Why can't we start winning these games? We can play them to within 11 but we can't win? Why not? Why can't we be good? There have been so many close losses in so many sports the last few years. Let's start taking some of these games instead of settling for "keeping it close"!

Got it down to a 6 point deficit with about 7 minutes left. Stanford made 38 of 46 free throws. The box score showed that Thoseby didn't play tonight. I don't get why he didn't play though. He went from starting last year, averaging one of the best 'points per minute' average to playing 6 seconds. The team averaged 40% from the field, I thought that'd be a perfect opportunity for a scorer, particularly when the other bench players were shooting poorly.

I like Thoseby. Last year after the men were beat at the Summit league tournament Thoseby and Gruis were the only 2 players (That I saw, could have been more) in the student section for the women's championship game against Denver. that garnered a lot of my respect.
It's tough because with a new coach comes a new game plan. Maybe he doesnt fit into the defense as well for coach Smith which is an area we needed the biggest change from last year. Smith also seems like a guy that will make some of those players like Norris and Thoseby more of a role player so some games they are going to see a lot more action than others depending on the game plan.

I appreciate what you're saying. However there are certain situations I've seen where coach Smith has gone to his bench, then back to his starters, then back to his bench but ignored the one guy that has more than one dimension to his game. As good a shooter as he is, Casey doesn't pose an offensive threat unless he's open, or given the opportunity to shoot. He doesn't attack the defence, he tends to stand till dribbling and crossing over. At least with Thoseby, he'll try and create something or get fouled. It's frustrating to watch, particularly after last nights game where he's proved that if he's actually given a good run out, he will score.

I agree about Kasperbauer. His size does not make him a threat on offense or defense unless he is really open. It looked like Thoseby had a really big game either Saturday or yesterday so maybe Smith is still tying to find the right combinations of what works.
