Continuing a conversation started in the MBB section. What kinds of improvements would you guys like to see with Coyote Vision? I'll be making a list of suggestions and I'll try to find ways to implement them. Thanks in advance!

Thanks ctc2010.
I spoke to someone with more tech knowledge than me and this is what I found out. I do not know what of it is right but at least you have it.
He was thinking the viewing problems were all because of the browser the univesity was using and that the browser was limiting the feed so that the site did not freeze up for everyone depending on how many people were on it.
It's ok that the feed is not HD. If there is a simple fix to make the feed a continuous feed that does not get choppy, cut in and out, and buffer 5 or 6 times a minute that would be great. It would also be nice to make the feed full screen on the computer so its not such a small viewing window. The option to do that is there now but when you make it full screen the feed is so bad and blurry. Thanks again ctc2010.

I understand that there is some hesitation to make improvement with moving to a new arena shortly but there are thing that could be done as a short term solution. I mean for goodness sake, I watch a lot of high school basketball games for scouting purposes and they are of much better quality. My kids played a team last week that was streaming the game using an iPad and a network connection. You're telling me that USD can't do something like that for the short term? At least the game would be watchable. They also had it tied to the radio broadcast so there was running commentary as well.

Would people be comfortable losing 2 camera angles and a replay feed for a single-camera, high definition feed?

I think that would be reasonable. For bball the side court angle is really all you need. If they use the same equiptment for football that may be a bigger deal for some. I have only seen a couple games on coyotevision as I usually go to most in person but I honestly cant remember a lot of replays anyways.

Football usually uses replays after every "positive play" for the Yotes, assuming the offense isn't running the hurry up. Basketball is limited to quick replays during downtime, shooting fouls, or halftime highlights. I'll talk to them about it. I think this would be pretty easy to do and if the majority of people are okay with it I don't see why it isn't a possibility.

When it comes to things such as Coyote Vision it's always more likely that people will voice their displeasure rather than be complimentary of it.
Honest question, is it even worth purchasing as I may be looking into it soon???

Been kinda looking around at some equipment. For a full HD production with a one camera, a video player, graphics machine, and replay machine, it would cost a little under $25,000. Each additional camera adds about $3,000. Pocket change, right?

What if we made the feed free until it could be made better. It seems unfair to charge someone for a service of that quality. It would help get the program more interest and a better following as well which would hopefully turn into more fans in the seats in the new arena at which time the service would be top of the line and we could start charging again.
For what its worth it sounds like NDSU had these same problems during the UND basketball game a couple weeks ago.

ctc2010-- Actually $25-30,000 is pocket change when you consider the BB arena/sports complex is costing $66 million and the U has already raised over $140 million of it's current Onward South Dakota goal of $250 million.

I have to wonder if there is an apprehension on the AD's behalf because a high quality feed that costs less than the price of a single ticket would cause some people to just stay home and watch. I'd like to see the Yotes have a feed that isn't lacking, just a thought.
