You are correct Jackl. I was doing something else at work and incidentally pulled the SDSU numbers from those years. The 3,625 and 2,661 were States numbers for the years I listed. USD's numbers have not gone backwords just stayed the same. Your numbers for USD in those years are also correct.
USD 08/09 1,430 09/10 1,404 10/11 1,454 11/12 1,681 12/13 1,817 13/14 1,796
SDSU's 04/05 ESPN only has one home game listed against Mayville State and no attendance. SDSU website only has attendance listed for (Wayne State 1418, Buena Vista 1313, NDSU 4281 Sothwest MN State 1233) 05/06 2,070 06/07 1,850 07/08 2,186 08/09 2,487 09/10 2,204 10/11 2,503 11/12 3,320 12/13 3,625 13/14 2,661
Between USD and SDSU there were maybe 3 or 4 games over the 8 year span I compiled these stats where a game did not list an attendance on ESPN so I could not figure that one game it in. Those few games will not affect the averages much unless one of the schools had 40,000 people at that game.
During the transition process attendences have increased at around the same percentages with SDSU seeing the big increase when they won the conference tournament those two years and were contenders. last year they saw a 1,000 decrease. like I said before winning helps. USD has not seen a huge increase because they have not seen a surge in success yet.
I stand by my comment of its a process. Some schools that had way more pull like Northern Colorado in football still have not recovered from the transition process. SDSU has done a really good job recovering from the transition process. but do not forget you were in the same boat. AND YOU WERE.
In the Avila thread a state fan made fun of USD's attendance for that game which was 1250. Maybe he should look back at the southwest MN state game from 2005 in which 1233 fans attended in Brookings.

The Bunny fan was making fun of the Avila game's attendance because they think there was no way there was 1250 fans in attendance.

I can say it's the only men's game I've missed this year. No interest in the lower division games.

I had not gotten that notification, thanks for posting it. Bet ESPN made the call on that one.

I have six tickets for Sunday's afternoon/evening sessions at the Summit League tourney for sale. It looks like the USD men will play Sunday night for sure. The tickets are in section 118, Row G. Great seats straight up from foul line, and better (and cheaper) than the single session tickets now available. Tickets are $20/seat or $100 for all six.

For those who have not attended a sporting event at the Denny, it's a dramatic improvement from the old arena. That cannot be overstated. It has a big-time feel. I just attended a Stampede hockey game Saturday, and there was an announced attendance over 10,000. I cannot wait to see hoops. The Summit may be a low-mid-major conference, but there is nothing low-mid-major about this facility.

I have attended a concert there and absolutely agree that it is a big time facility. It really reminded me of the Century Link in Omaha.

I would go one step further...there is nothing low-mid-major about the Summit League Conference Tournament. Even in the old Arena, the atmosphere and production of the tournament was top notch. Overall attendance for the tournament I believe ranks in the top 10-15 nationally among all D1 conferences. For a fan of athletics/basketball, it is an absolute blast to attend, whether your teams wins or not.

Yotes seeding forecast for the Summit: The Coyote men's seeding situation as they enter the last week of the regular season is very clear to a point, and then gets muddy. What we know: USD will be the third, fourth or fifth seed which means the Coyotes will open the Summit League tournament on Sunday night at 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. If they are the fourth or fifth seed, they'll play either Oral Roberts or Fort Wayne and that game will take place at 6 p.m. on Sunday If they earn the third seed, they'd play the sixth seed at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. The sixth seed is most likely going to be Denver or IUPUI, which are both 5-9 with two games remaining. It looks like Western Illinois (3-11) would have a shot still at that spot, but I will table the discussion involving the 'Necks' sixth-seed contingencies until their prospects for landing it appear more likely than they are now. Arguing about who has better fans is like arguing about who has a better mother. We all agree the Summit Tourney is awesome. Take off work and go watch basketball. Don't make excuses. I am a banker. I use PTO and go to the game. I know many lawyers, they to can miss a day of work. Even a competent CPAs can find a way to take a few hours. The doctors I know are on vacation as much as they work. A dairy farmer can't leave for a day. A cattle man might be dealing with calves. You have to prioritize it.
