People make career changes all the time. Her resignation may have nothing to do with the anything discussed here so far. It may just simply be that she is moving on to something else, maybe a different career, maybe she has another job at a different school that "fits" her better that has nothing to do with anything at USD. There could be a million reasons for somebody to quit a job and go take another job that have nothing to do with their current job or their employer. True, but usually the reason is made known, unless the reason is something very sensitive, private, or having legal ramifications. Either the University or Coach does not want the reason public, it would seem.

Burnt out on coaching perhaps? Wants to get closer to home? She did a good job here but coaching isn't for everyone and that she resigned has me wondering if she is stepping away from the craft. Herbster is a reasonable guy so it really doesn't seem reasonable to suspect that she felt mistreated and that the only answer was to resign.

Per this Yankton P&D article, it simply appears that Amy Klyse was ready to make a change. I wish her well and offer her thanks for her years coaching at USD. Thanks for finding that, goyotes! When I was looking, all I found was regurgitation of the same university-released statement from the Argus, KELO, Sioux City, etc. It seems that the Yankton P&D always has better and more in-depth coverage of the Yotes. The SF media doesn't seem to take as much interest... Here are some quotes: I agree that it sounds like she just decided to leave. Still puzzling.

I do find it a little odd that she stated she doesn't have a new job lined up. It does make me worder a bit.

She was making $55,000 as the USD head softball coach. SDSUs golf coach quit a few years ago for a career change and so did their recent tennis coach. With the amount of hours she puts in and traveling, that amount of money can be hard to swallow for all those hours.

She also was a pitching instructor for the Sioux Falls Cyclones (Club Softball) sfcyclones.com/staff/?staff_id=4I don't know how much that boosted her income, but I'm sure it probably added more "stuff" to her life as well. Rewarding, yes, but busy, too. She's got kids, as well, so that's a factor. Just kind of a bummer, since she really had the team competitive.

It seems to me like she just decided she didn't want to coach softball for the rest of her life and this was her chance to get out

EDITED
This is her Twitter pic, so she's either a mom or a really cool aunt.

I removed the pictures of kids from this forum. If a poster wants to put pictures of their own children on this forum I am fine with that, their choice. Putting pictures of somebody else's children (presumably without permission) on this forum is not something I am comfortable with, even if they are available on Facebook.

If you are talking about the interim part, ASU's head coach had to retire due to medical reasons. Therefore Wagner and another assistant coach were co-interim coaches for the rest of last season. ASU hired Fresno State's head coach to fill the vacancy. I'm assuming she brings on a new staff with her so he was available and USD signed Wagner for the HC position.
