Congratulations to the Coyote women for winning this weekend's meet in Brookings! I understand the men's best runner did not compete. I hope all is well.
This is probably the most physically/mentally demanding sport there is. Hats off and much success down the (open)road.

Defending champions looking to get another title. Here's to another 900 years of USD Cross Country! Changed it to the right date (2015 instead of 2915). Details, details! Thanks for pointing out my error.

This is probably the most physically/mentally demanding sport there is. Hats off and much success down the (open)road. I completely agree. Long distance running is something I could never master no matter how much I tried but that was years ago. I was in the military and could never get used to the morning runs. I respect marathon runners probably more than any other athlete there is. There is no stopping in long distance running but rather a constant battle against fatigue and how far one can push themselves. Even in the most demanding team sports there is some time to rest in between plays etc.

I conference meet is this Saturday so we will know how things shake out this year soon. I think the women's race will come down to NDSU and USD but if they struggle SDSU's might have enough depth to get into the mix. If USD can go #1 and #2 it will be tough beating them. SDSU will need NDSU (or somebody else) to get up there and not let USD's top 3 take control of the race to have a chance but if USD does what they should, they should pull if out. The mens race will be a 2 team race (IUPUI and SDSU) but after that there will be a gap and a few teams could be in the mix.

If you haven't heard yet, the USD women repeated as champions and the men took 4th!
