Dan Jech and the Yotes are having a huge game. This team seems to be coming along in finding their identity much earlier than I anticipated. Do they look good? Maybe it's just the opponent, but I was very impressed with how we looked on offense. Kasperbauer was kept in check most of the night but the rest of the team was there to score a ton of points tonight. True freshman Dan Jech went 9/10 from the field, 4/4 on 3 pointers, finished with 22 points. Very impressive performance and a great win for USD.

Smith's comments. Very good win, Sac State did not lose at home in the Big Sky last year. Most physical game of the year. Showed alot of resolve. Really proud of how we competed. Can't say enough about the performance of so many guys. Said they are best defensive team that we played. The mix up their defense. Only 8 total turnovers. Sac State has size, can shoot and can drive. Yotes were hurt on offensive boards and on transition. Team happy to only be down 1 at half. They had 7 threes at half which as as much as they usually get all game. They only give up 26% on threes and the Yotes shot 63%. 12 in all. Hagedorn had his best game of career and so did Jech. Says Jech has a very bright future. Shy got to the rim nicely. They were face guarding Kasperbauer but they left alot of other stuff open. Hagedorn sparked us. Trey played very well and good team defense. Best game of the year and it was not very close. Now can we do it again tomorrow. Going against a good E Washington team. They play 5 guards. Haven't done much to prepare for them. Sac State is 23-3 in last 26 home games. They rarely beat themselves.

Coach Smith was giddy tonight and he should be. Lets go get the Eagles and show them that we can't only beat them in football but basketball too.

Eastern Washington figures to be just as good of an opponent but without the home court advantage. Last season EWU won the Big Sky regular season and tournament, earning a 13 seed and finishing with a 26-9 record. Another chance for another big win tomorrow.
Fun fact about EWU - their head coach is Jim Hayford, who apparently coached at USF for two years back in 1999-00, 2000-01.
Go Yotes!

How bout the Yotes show Eastern Washington tomorrow how over rated the Big Sky is. If they slip up I still think it's a step forward type weekend unless the Eagles win in a blowout.

www.bigskyconf.com/sports/2015/11/19/WatchBigSky.aspxThe game will be free once again on Big Sky TV. The Coyotes are coming off their best performance of the year and will need close to the same to take out the Eagles today. It appears that E Washington like to play alot of small ball so many Jech can get some mismatches and have another big game today. If the Coyote guards can hold their own I think the Yotes can take the game. So far this year the Eagles have just been ok. They did beat Pacific 70-63 but I think the Yotes were more impressive in their game yesterday. The Eagles were good last year but it's this year and the Yotes are riding high. I like the Yotes in this one 83-74.

19-19 with 8:00 or so in the first half. Yotes on a 6-0 run.

37-34 Eagles at the half. The Eagles were hot from the outside and it definitely is leading to their advantage. I like how the Yotes are playing despite being behind. They are getting to the basket well and preventing E Washington from getting to the hoop. I think it's the Eagles that need to make the adjustments because if they go cold from outside the Yotes offense is more easily sustainable. I look for a Coyote comeback and for the Eagles to cool off with their outside shooting.

Fun fact from Jay Elsen: ElsenMidco: .@sdcoyotesmbb trails Eastern Wash 37-34 at half. 5th time in 7 gm that Yotes & opponent have been separated by 3 pts or less at the break.

I was enjoying watching this game, but the first 8 minutes of the second half have had the camera focused on one end of the court. No idea what is happening when USD has the ball.

Yep had to watch the USD bench reaction to find out if they scored. Yotes coming back. If E Wash ever starts missing their 3's the Yotes will take over. Down 3 right now.

The Coyotes finally lead 63-58 with 5:30 to go. I felt as if the Coyotes have been the better team all night but when teams are nailing threes against you it's hard to defend it. They have been getting some open threes but also have been making contested threes as well. I really like the composure again today.

COYOTE WIN COYOTES WIN
77-71 is the final
What a weekend for the Coyotes. Hey Big Sky, How bout them Coyotes.
The Coyotes did most things in this game better than Eastern Washington. They didn't have to rely so much on the three and that reliance for the Eagles came back to catch up with them in the end. The Yotes played well and man are we good getting to the rack. Both basketball teams not only took a step forward but we are talking leaps and bounds for both teams. I am guessing the Eagles hit 13 or 14 threes in the game but the Coyotes still held them to 71 which is good considering how hot they were for most of the game. The interior defense was good. The Yotes were swarming them inside and making it very difficult for them to get off shots.
Wow I am a happy Coyote Fan this weekend.
