I wonder if jackl will update the new RPI ratings after the results from tonights Summit League Men's action. Why? Because SDSU lost to Texas Tech (7-1, 21 RPI) on the road without George Marshall? SDSU RPI will probably go up even though they lost.

Watching you 3 have your slap fights is painful. Also, careful putting too much/any stock in a metric that has ORU at 32. Almost every other widely used analysis or rankings have them outside the top 100. the RPI is too easily manipulated and becoming more and more obsolete.

ORU just lost to Missouri State who is 4-6, but looks like MSU losses are all to some tough teams.

This captures my thoughts on the entire matter. RPI pissing matches at any point, let alone mid-December, are painful to watch. Maybe talk about it in February.

I am not sure how statistically accurate RPI by conference rankings are, but FWIW the Summit League is now up to #9 of 32 conferences.
Some other conferences are Mountain West #10, Missouri Valley #13, MAC #14, Horison #15 & Conference USA #19

Updated RPI with Strength of Schedule included this time
RPI Team SOS
44 SDSU 135 65 Oral Roberts 64 82 IPFW 223 108 USD 114 153 NDSU 321 178 Omaha 247 216 Western Illinois 328 240 IUPUI 156 242 Denver 333
Interesting how SOS factors in. IPFW may be high in RPI but their SOS is very mediocre. Look at ORU's SOS, they have been playing stiff competition. NDSU has really taken a nose dive. Their RPI isn't bad but there is no comparison between their SOS and USD's. Western Illinois is still receiving votes in the mid major poll because of a win over Wisconsin. They have basically done nothing else in the non conference with a very weak SOS. They are a joke to have in those rankings/poll ahead of other more deserving Summit teams. One thing I love about the Yotes is that they are very battle tested with their schedule and know how to win close games against good teams. The Coyotes have gone out on the road and on neutral courts and picked up alot of meaningful W's so far this year. Other than at Frost which the Yotes will be a certain underdog I don't see any other road games that the Yotes don't have a very good chance in. I think the goal should be to get into that 2 or 3 slot which would give the Yotes a good chance to play for the Summit Tourney Championship game. The Coyotes are probably right up there with Oral Roberts for the 2nd most impressive Summit team after the first two games of the year.

I guess I am confused on what Oral has done that is all that impressive. Nice win over Tulsa, about it. I would assume on the mens side it will be SDSU 1.. and then could 2-8 is going to be wild this year I think. At this point, its really hard to distinguish any one team that sticks out for 2 or for 8-9 for that matter. You could say IUPUI hasnt looked great, but they have played a tough schedule as well. Road wins are tough to come by in this conference. You could easily see 10 wins get 2nd this year.

SDSU might be the favorite but they will need to get healthy before the conference tournament or I don't see them winning it. I think that Marshall is supposed to come back this weekend and Bittle is supposed to come back around January 18th but we will see. If those two are out, you are missing two (preseason) 1st team all conference players. I don't know if they will be all conference at the end of the season but they might be. You are missing your starting PG and SF who are both seniors. SDSU only has 10 players playing right now and only 4 of them are guards. One of the four is a walk-on. They only play about 8 of those 10. I don't think that SDSU will be able to play three games in four days with that short of a bench. I hope that I am wrong and they both should be back by then but we will see.
The rest of the conference has some good teams. The RPI wouldn't be as high as it is without good teams. You would think that the #1 seed would beat the #8 seed but there should be good games throughout the tournament.
In the women's, it's a different story #1 and #2 are the best and #3 is a threat but after that, it's a mess.
