Anybody know if there's any formal or informal "tailgates" before the game?

Have heard nothing but I'm sure you can count on a gathering at the Beef O' Brady's beforehand.

There is a gathering at Beef O'Brady's starting at 4:30. Hopefully the weather doesn't impact the attendance that much. Go Yotes!

Yotes got out to a big lead and after half the Eagles have full court pressed. Yotes have not had an answer and are turning the ball over way too much. They need a new inbounds play to beat this press as they keep getting caught in the corner. 53-52 FGCU, 7:37 left

Touchy fouls against both teams in this game.

Cardiac Coyotes headed to OT again. Shy has fouled out. We will see if FCGU comes out in a press.

Davis with a nice end of the game, Yotes win 89-81. This is a good win for the Yotes. We were tested in the transition game which can be our downfall. They fought hard and were able to close the game out. Being able to finish games is big for experience and confidence going into the conference schedule. IUPUI up next on Fri.

Wow!! What an awesome win for USD. Didn't play the best but found a way to finish.

A nice win for the Coyotes. Kasperbauer lit it up early and often. We definitely had trouble when they put the full court press on us midway through the second half but we maintained our composure and fought it out. Eric Robertson also had another great game and handled their big guys quite well. Our young guys had their moments and I think the experience will benefit them greatly, especially on the defensive side of the court where they struggled against FGC's bigger players. The finish was fantastic and there were certainly some plays that will make a nice highlight reel. Glad to be able to catch a game in Sioux Falls. The crowd wasn't huge but I'm sure that the weather played a part in that.

Holy smokes that was an exciting game. I had a blast and love this annual game in the Pentagon. Definitely time for FGCU to dump the Dunk City moniker. Sitting in the front row I shouted at their #25 while inbounding asking how they can call themselves Dunk City. He proceeded to go up for a dunk and get stuffed, resting my case. DJ ending the game with a dunk was all too satisfying.
Yotes finish non-conference play at 8-6 (9-6 after the NAIA game coming up in February), a mark I am not at all disappointed in when looking down the schedule. Would really like to have those first two and CSU-Bakersfield games back, but good wins over UW-Milwaukee, Minnesota, Eastern Washington, Sacramento State, and FGCU certainly make up for those losses. Seems likely that USD will be improved again this year and has a good chance to make a run at 20 wins this year.

The Coyotes will never make it easy but ultimately will usually not let you down either. As soon as the game went to OT despite Florida Gulf Coast's second half run I was like "This one is the Yotes game". Certainly enough it was. This was a crowd pleaser no doubt. Alot of very nice plays for the Yotes and especially when they needed them most. My favorite part was the last minutes or two when the Yotes took control over what was a back and forth game since about midway through the 2nd half. That last minute the crowd really had a chance to let loose to cheer the Yotes through that victorious last run to close out the overtime. I had fun both times being at the Pentagon despite the facility being a bit on the over rated side. The angle of pitch with the seating is simply too shallow. I didn't notice so much last year as I was in the first 3 rows but this year row 11 seemed well off the court and the dozen or so rows higher than that would have really been far off the court. I would suggest trying to get a good seat if anyone wants to see an event at the Pentagon. There are alot of cool features especially the nicely situated box seats. I can see why alot of people like the place although it's just average to me.
Kasperbauer was on fire with a career high 31. His next best career game was 26. I thought the Yotes played well but they need to hit those boards harder especially on the defensive rebounds. I didn't think the Yotes got to the rack as much as I would have liked throughout most of the game as they settled for outside shots alot. Luckily they started going down low when it really mattered most. Florida Gulf Coast was athletic and I knew to expect it since I watched a bit of their game against SDSU down in Florida. The first half was tremendous for the Coyotes but like others have said that press caused problems. Anytime a team is pressed I like to see it attacked hard like when Robertson got a power slam against it. If the Yotes would have attacked it a little more aggressively a couple of layups and dunks and suddenly they aren't so fast to pressure any longer. A team when getting to half court after beating a press and having a numbers advantage is bound to shoot a really high percentage when getting the press broken.
The Coyotes are about as tested as they can possibly be going into league play. The experience they have in these close games will be to their advantage later in the year. If a team wants to beat the Coyotes they better have a decent lead with 2:00 to go because I am taking the Yotes everytime if they get in a tight one down to the end. They know how to win these types of games as a team and that is a nice asset to have in the back pocket if needed.
Can't wait for Summit League play for both men and women. This could collectively be one of the best basketball seasons ever for Coyote men's and women's basketball.

I watched the highlights earlier today and thoroughly enjoyed the uncut shot of DJ Davis scoring the final six points in that last minute then having the team mob him. Camera never leaves him through the whole clip at the end. So cool. That guy has taken a great step forward this year.

No doubt about it regarding DJ Davis and his improvement this year. He was an also ran last year and in less than one half of a season he is a major contributor now. Eric Robertson same thing. Since Smith has been coach he has gone from a very below average player to one of the most versatile bigs in the Summit. Starting with this years freshman class led by Jech and Hagedorn it wouldn't surprise me if they have a taste of the NCAA tourney by the time they graduate. I didn't realize this until I looked at the Jacks roster but they loose Marshall, Parks and Bittle after this year. For some reason I thought at least one of them was a freshman last year but I was wrong. There is no reason that the Coyotes with their continued development can't be considered one of the major threats to win the Summit in 2016 which is their first year in the new arena.
