Looks like Mueller stopped by the shootaround today for the Yotes!

I can't think of another player in USD history that made the most out of the ability he had more than Josh Mueller did. He was a guy that got you out of your seat for good or bad. Mostly good for USD and bad for USD's opponents.
The Coyotes won out in Denver last year so why not do so again. I am picking a USD win 71-66. I doubt Denver will be setting up in many full court press sets. They will probably be taking the air out of the basketball more than anything.

Anyone paying to listen to the commentator lay down some smack again? No free video for this one that I saw. No Denver announcer this time around.

Yes, I am watching through their streaming service. The announcer is better behaved. However doesn't seem to be the most informed fella.

The Coyotes trail Denver 30-22 at the half. What is going on with this team. I think if this game goes down as a loss this team is teetering on being done this year as far as accomplishing anything. The only real good basketball this team has played since the Oral Roberts game is during a 29-5 run vs Western Illinois and a comeback in the 2nd half vs NDSU only to fall short. I was hoping that the Coyotes would be about the same as last year but didn't expect this kind of a step back this year. The team lost alot of players but being in year 2 of Smith's system should have off set alot of that. It did for awhile but one has to wonder why such a drastic downturn with this team.

It seems like the team took a downturn as soon as Hagedorn and especially Jech's playing time decreased. Smith has fallen in love with playing certain guys and that hasn't seemed to create a good chemistry. For good or bad I would like to see the Freshmen get more PT from here on out.

Looks like Mueller stopped by the shootaround today for the Yotes! I don't think there's a USD player Augie fans from my generation (and probably several other generations) despised more than Mueller. Primarily because he would come out looking like he'd just finished pounding 6 beers in the locker room and he'd drop 35, 40+ on us. He was ridiculous. One of the all time greats to hate.

A 6 seed seems like our best possible scenario at this point. At least Western Illinois is bad enough that we shouldn't have any trouble making it to Sioux Falls...

I don't think the Coyotes are out of the woods yet from being vanquished from the tourney. All Western has to do is gain one game and the tie breaker advantage over the Coyotes and they could tie or pass the Coyotes during the last game of the conference season (or is it the 2nd to last game, would have to check). Tonight the Coyotes barely showed up for the game. How can a team be down by 20 plus to Denver. They barely score 60 a game. Things are going from bad to worse. I would have envisioned this team starting slow and getting better throughout the season but the opposite is happening. This is going from slightly disturbing to downright shocking with the state of this team right now. Denver who was tied with the Coyotes now own a 1 game lead and the tie breaker.
I can see the story line right now. Western Illinois gets revenge on USD after losing Nielsen to them but knocking the Coyotes out of the Summit Tourney. That would be fairly significant payback and it would happen in MaComb, Illinois.
I think this whole thing started with the Coyotes inability to win at home and I think it can be traced back to the Cal State Bakersfield game that was lost at home. Now the Yotes are taking their Vermillion luggage on the road with them.

listening to the post game I am hearing Smith show some discouragement moreso than I remember hearing from him before. He says that we need to figure out what direction to take this team. Also says that the team isn't playing unified like it once was. I think it is time for Smith to start getting a little PO'd basically. This is turning into more than just a little slump. It's becoming more like a major problem at this point.

Not alot of positives from this one. Some troubling numbers all around:
8 assists losing rebounding 31-23 is unacceptable combined 18 points from Casey, Tre, and Shy-
Burnette needs to step up, as big of a step forward as DJ has made, Tre may have gone that much backward. Disappointing. Our rotation seemed odd last night. With the big men we have, we need to settle some things there. I dont know if that means going to more of a 3-4 man rotation with the bigs, but the minutes are everywhere. As a player, it seems like it would be hard to know your role when it changes every game or even every half for that matter.
