Two more NCAA tourney appearances this year.
Sure they had a head start in D1 but this is seriously a one sided rivalry when it comes to meaningful accomplishments. The Coyotes can't even upstage SDSU (Women's hoops) even when they are the better team which is not very often. The Women win two conference titles in a row and the Jacks are the ones smiling in the end for two straight years. Conference titles are nice and are a good accomplishment but the overall feeling is that the Jacks still ended up having the better year because they are dancing and USD is not. Their men play like garbage for most of the Summit tourney and still get to the NCAA tourney. We are supposed to be bringing in all these recruits in mens basketball but look at all the freshman players in the Summit and not one Coyote is mentioned as a promising new comer. Now the Jacks have Daum and he will probably be killing the Yotes for 3 more years.
How many playoff games have they had in football vs a big goose egg for the Coyotes.
How many NCAA appearances do their Women have. Isn't it something like 7 bids in 8 years.
Now the Jacks men have 3 NCAA bids against another big goose egg
So adding it all up the Jacks lead in significant accomplishments about 15-20 to 1.
This athletic administration needs to look at this and feel the pain of this punch to the gut and actually do something about it. I am tired of the excuses and tired of losing to them in almost anything that matters. It's always next year or three years from now for USD but the future never becomes the present. Of course everyone will tell me to be patient, the same thing I have been told every year for the last 5 years. I will be told that same thing for the next 5 years in a row as well.
When will this one sided rivalry ever truly change? That is a question I would certainly like to know.

In all seriousness, what would you like to see the athletic administration do?

In all seriousness, what would you like to see the athletic administration do? I think it's obvious, fire everyone! Abbott? Gone. Herbster? Gone. 2nd shift custodian at the MUC? Gone. Seeing who started this thread I read nothing considering they are a problem in and of themself. More people go to the games and show their support, higher odds of long term success. Tough concept and clearly beyond a specific poster, but a fact.

In all seriousness, what would you like to see the athletic administration do? Good question because there isn't a whole lot they can do other than play second fiddle I would suppose. We will just have to continue to be happy to just play against them and take the rare win here and there are be happy for them when they win championship after championship.

So what is your plan coyote fan? Fire Nielsen before he coaches a game? Fire Amy Williams after winning coach of the year? Fire Craig smith after his second year? Fire herbster? Really? I really don't know what you are looking for? Does losing suck? Hell yes.
Maybe we need to get more fans to the SLT to support our teams. What was the ratio this year? 80/20 maybe? It was better than last year but still not close. It was nice to see you there coyote fan. You had some good seats. How did you get those?
If anyone plans to go next year I hope you have tickets already because the lower bowl is pretty much gone already. Anyone hear about the two year deal on tickets that the sdsu fans got?

When did 2017 tickets go on sale and how is one actually supposed to get good seats? I'm looking at tickets an entire year in advance and there is basically nothing available. I'll end up buying directly from the USD ticket office again and hope that they put me up as well as they did this year.

So after the women's game on Saturday, my mom went to the ticket booth to check what they had for tickets for next year. (In case some didn't notice, they bumped the USD section out further yet from mid court from what it was last year. They took away the 2 or 3 rows of folding chairs on each side of the court. I think those tickets are for tournament sponsors. They all got moved back into the first few rows of permanent seats.) So the woman shows my mom the available seats for next year. The only available in lower bowl was on the ends. She said most of the tickets in the lower bowl were sold last year for 2 years. So I did some checking on the bunny board and I guess back in September they had a thing where if you bought a summit league baseball tournament ticket, you could get a code or something and a couple days later they could buy summit league basketball tournament tickets for like 2 days. As long as they had the code, they could order the tickets for a couple days but it was for a 2 year commitment. They had people sending a PM to others with the passcode. Funny, when USD tried that this year for the SDSU football game at home, we were too stupid to keep it a secret from sdsu fans or a usd fan told some buddies from sdsu.

We've got a new football coach, the reigning MVFC Coach of the Year as a matter of fact. Amy Williams, Summit League Coach of the Year. Craig Smith, in only his second year and is a well regarded hire. A new arena opening next season. Plans in the works for a Dome renovation. New track complex, one of the best in the region. New soccer complex. FCOA. A dominant track & field program.
I'd say the Athletic Department is doing something to elevate our athletic programs. Maybe you could do something too like joining the Howling Pack or buying season tickets?

At this point it is up to the fans to do their part. Football and men's basketball are going to drive the fan turnout, need those programs to take a big step forward next year.

I wish some things like the Dome renovation would be a little more transparent to help drive interest.
The biggest problem with our fan base is they could give a shit less during the game. The only time they do anything is to clap during the school song. There also seems to be this idea that its uncool to go to these games and follow USD. especially with people in their 20's and 30's.
I do feel like state has done a better job attracting and respecting younger fans. At USD we still spoil the top 1% and give little to no thought or respect to the other 99% which has hurt increasing the fan base. When you have to give a minimum of $1,050 to get a tailgating spot and be within the same zip code of the Dome we are pricing most of our fan base out of getting involved.

Agree the tailgating setup should change. But if it doesn't, maybe those who tailgate in the West Lot could organize and form a tailgating coalition making that lot the "place to be". It's all in how you approach these things.

Perhaps you might try getting to know an SDSU alumnus/alumna? We had access to the two year deal in a group with 4 SDSU grads, a USD grad and a UNO grad. Excellent seats and a good group to hang with.
