I kind of expected a win tonight, or worst case we lose a highly competitive game. Never in a thousand years did I expect us to absolutely wreck Oregon in this fashion. Anything and everything that we threw into the air went in - you'll find proof on Sportscenter's top ten tomorrow morning with Tia Hemiler's heave - and we simply shut Oregon down on defense, allowing just 9 and 7 points in the 1st and 3rd quarters. This performance is made all the more memorable when it is multiplied by what had to be the biggest basketball crowd of the D1 era (until Saturday) on hand. We are absolutely a NCAA tourney-caliber team but in spite of falling short of that goal have made the best out of the situation and then some.
I absolutely can not wait for the sixth, and final, final basketball game in the Dome. Everyone buy your tickets and bring everyone you've ever met to this one.
Go Yotes!

Anybody else trying to buy online? I'm at a show for work but flying back early for the game. It's not allowing me to purchase tickets after 10:30. Am I alone on this?

First things first. I have gone to literally hundreds if not more sporting events in my life but I have never witnessed anything like that. The USD women would have beaten 99% of the teams in the country tonight. Simply amazing, and congrats to them.
Secondly, kudos to President Abbott, AD Herbster, asst AD Williams for having the fortitude and guts to bid high enough to bring this prestigious tournament championship to our campus. It will be broadcast Saturday at 2 pm on CBS SPORTS channel nationwide. Great exposure for USD and the women's basketball program.
Third to the fans that FINALLY jumped on board to back this team. Better late than never.
Lastly, remember tonight for a long time. Because that's exactly how it can be for all home games in the new arena. The noise, electricity, and overall good times happen when everyone jumps on board. We can make that new arena a freakin snake pit for men's and women's basketball, and volleyball if we would just commit to coming. Think of the number of athletes that would sign just to play in front of a crowd like that? Success breeds success. The same thing applies for the Dome in football.
It has taken a group of young and very talented women to show just what can be. I'm so proud of them. And I know you all are as well. Thanks ladies for such a memorable moment.

Tia Hemiler's shot landed at #2 on tonight's Sportscenter. That shot was insane and perfectly represented how things were going beyond the arc for USD.

registerguard.com/rg/sports/34213694-81/oregon-ducks-womens-basketball-team-heads-to-south-dakota-for-wnit-semifinal-game.html.cspAn article written by an Oregon writer today before the game. Here are a couple of quotes from it: "In Texas, the Ducks rallied from 18 points down to spoil the Miners’ unbeaten home season and deny them a school-record 30th victory before a raucous UTEP crowd of 9,055. ... The Ducks (24-10) won’t find quite the same reception on their next stop. It would take nearly every citizen of Vermillion -- or every student on campus -- to fill the 10,000-seat DakotaDome, the multi-purpose facility where the Coyotes also play football and volleyball, and host indoor track and swim meets. ... The Coyotes, who’ve averaged 1,844 fans while going 15-1 at home this season, have drawn 2,381 per game for their three WNIT home games, topped by the 2,749 who saw the quarterfinal win over Western Kentucky on Sunday." The rest of the article was fine. He basically threw out some relevant stats to compare the teams. I just thought the above statements were kind of telling about what they were expecting to encounter in Vermillion. There are plenty more Yotes fans in South Dakota than the small population of Vermillion. Hopefully this fan interest will spill over into next year with the new facility, Sanford Arena part III. We have already increased WBB ave. attendence by 300 over last year's. The crowd (5,080), the Dome, and our women's confident shooting may have caught the Ducks off guard a little. And I agree with the other posters on here that mentioned the lack of a break for Oregon. Had to be a factor.

Tonight can be summed up in one word: Unbelievable. For the Coyote fans it was unbelievable to witness the intensity and electricity inside the dome. For the Ducks, it was unbelievable that they could be demolished by a little team from flyover country. Their coach just sat and shook his head for the last part of the 3rd quarter. On to the championship on Saturday. Let's shoot for 7500 for the FINAL dome finale!

Does anyone know what the attendance records are for basketball in the Dome? Would love to see the last game in the Dome break the record.
EDIT: The men's media guide shows their record as 9,545 (how?!) but I can't find the women's figure.
