If Joe Glenn ever needs to enter a nursing home in his twilight years, you would not be fit to wipe his ass.

I think it is a little pre mature to claim that both schools have great coaches just yet. Craig Smith has yet to prove really much of anything just yet and TJ doesn't even have head coaching experience. I will reserve judgement until I see more from Smith and anything at all out of TJ. Both are still hype without any results as of yet. That could easily change but that greatness is yet to be realized by either. The same thing was said about Joe Glenn and how did that work out? You're entitled to your opinion. I think I'd lay down and die if you ever said anything good or nice about someone or something.

How the heck is State College justifying paying a new head coach, without any experience, $300k? That's ridiculous... Is that more than Steeg makes? Guessing he was okay signing only a 1 year contract too?

I'm guessing he was a well-paid assistant at ISU. He was their ace recruiter, and those guys tend to make more than the average, from what I have seen. That could have been a factor.

It looks like Nagy might be inheriting some animosity from the firing of the former coach, Billy Donovan. He was really well liked at Wright State. Billy Donovan was hired by Michigan as an assistant coach and this article talks about his move to Michigan and touches on a little of what he left behind at WS... Here is a quote from the article below: "According to numerous reports, the move stemmed from a soured relationship between he [Donovan] and Wright State athletic director Bob Grant." "We were shocked and a lot of us were mad," Yoto said. "It didn't affect me because I'm graduating, but I really upset me to see him go. And the underclassmen are still a little bit salty about it." www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2016/05/billy_donlon.html#incart_river_index

The thing is he was ready to take our job here two short years ago for far less. Perhaps TJ is an excellent negotiator or state's AD is a total rube because shelling out this kind of cash makes little sense.

It's their money, let them see fit to spend it how they want.
Reality is that if USD ever wants to get to Valley level then we'll need to start shelling out a lot more than we are for coaches. $300k will look cheap if we want to get to that level, which I hope is the goal someday.

Do you actually know what USD was going to offer TJ? 300K is nothing for D1 head basketball coaches. I wouldn't question Justin Sell.

There is no evidence suggesting we offered him, Smith seems to have been the only offer. What was his salary at Iowa State?

I still say he was available for quite a bit less. If he was looking for a $300k salary he never would have applied at a school that would have had to more than double their head coach's salary in order to meet this request.
