Seems on the surface like a lateral move, but per the below a big bump in salary

Looks like South Dakota State may have to pony up if they want to keep him. USD ponied up for Nielsen and now SDSU may have to go far above that to keep Nagy.

Panic and tears starting to flow out of the Bunny Kingdom? No one would dare leave the comfort of the rabbits nest... or so we continue to be told... it should be everyone's honor and privilege to coach there forever...

I said during the season that he seems to want out. Someone content with their current position doesn't get to the offer stage with another school.

I have to wonder, and maybe frequent guest JackJD, will offer his perspective, if Nagy and maybe also Johnston, are frustrated with all the money put into facilities for virtually all other sports at SDSU, while Frost Arena, the home of the 2 teams with the most D1 success there, has received little, if any, improvements?

I've wondered that too. Although I may be in minority of Yotes fans (on this board, anyway), I think at our level your put all your chips on basketball, and FCS football gets what's left. It seems like they are doing the opposite in Brookings. If I was Johnston/Nagy, I would absolutely take a lateral move to a school that puts BB first. (Which maybe means it really isn't a lateral move?) Where are the rabbit posters when we actually need them?

Nope I don't think that is the issue, the upgrades to Frost are next on the list of building improvements. The plans are to add practice courts and a wrestling practice room on the south side of Frost and remodel the inside of Frost with bowl type seating and suites above that. The indoor practice facility had to be done first to move the indoor track out of Frost arena to allow a remodel of the facility. and as far as the football stadium being built before basketball facilities well we've needed a stadium for a looooong time.

Isn't Nagy from Illinois or close to there? I am assuming Wright State must be much closer to home for him to take that job. I would aim higher than that if I were him but who knows what would go into his thought process. I would have to imagine if that is the salary that he was offered that would have to be close to double than what he is getting now.

Wright State is 'apparently' offering 450k. Tough to turn down even though it's not much of a step up.

Exactly my thoughts SDSUAlum08. It is a same type of job, but that is a lot of dough to turn down.

Well, rats. I know he is a great coach and has made the rabbit's program solid, but I really like him, and think he is good for the league. You can end up with some real tools (IUPUI guy & Kampe come to mind). But Nagy was always first class, and I appreciate that in an era that has a lot of 'hey look at me' styles or a lot of control-every-step-a-player-makes styles.
