I'll preface this by saying that I live in Sioux Falls and think it's great anytime I can watch the Yotes play and not have to drive down to Vermillion. With that being said, I really do not understand the rationale and/or thought process behind the scheduling of this game in Sioux Falls (also very possible that SIUE wouldn't agree to a game on campus). I would think that our new coaching staff would want to create excitement for the new facility and show it off to fans-including those from Sioux Falls. So not only will we be paying significantly more for season tickets, we now have to pay for an extra "home" game? This decision is a head scratcher to me.

I would guess that the impetus for setting this game up came from T. Denny rather than the University. In order to justify the existence of the Pentagon, they have had to go after the matchups that they think will draw fans. Probably paying both teams to be there, which is good for the U, and good for us fans in SF, IMHO.

Sanford Health, not T. Denny. He is a donar, not an owner of the hospital system. That being said, when Sanford Health donates $20M to the new arena, they are in a position to demand this.

Plus, why not strike while the iron is hot, so to speak. Fresh off of the WNIT championship, a game in SF helps keep the fire of fandom stoked with the large alumni population here. I'm all out of cliches so I'll just stop.

I think you are confused. Two years ago SIUE went 19-12, and that was their best record in their Division 1 history. Perhaps a team on the rise but they haven't done anything notable yet.

Would obviously prefer that the game be played in the new arena, but doing so would likely require a return trip to SIUE. By playing in the Pentagon we likely get a somewhat home game without having to make a return trip.

Yes, the number I saw was her conference record that year. 13-3. Still a good accomplishment. And when I said "we" were throwing her name around, I meant on this message board. I have no idea if AD DH ever looked at her.

Pretty wide range in competition level.Maybe it's nice to get a breather once in awhile, although not too much, have to maintain that edge you know.Good to see the Illini agreeing to play in Vermillion. Hats off to Arkansas for continuing to play and give the non power five schools a chance for pulling off an upset, great coach for WBB in Jimmy Dykes. Not too bad a schedule, considering the coaching change and all.

Thanks for posting that. Here's the non-conference schedule with end-of-regular-season RPI. Looks like Riverside & SDSU might be our toughest games of the season: (we ended the regular season at 62 last year) SIUE - 149Stephen F Austin - 210 Arkansas- 142Tulsa - 194 UC Riverside - 66 Cal State Bakersfield - 216 Concordia St Paul - not D1 Wyoming - 258 Illinois - 184 San Jose State - 200 Northwestern (IA) - not D1

Nice research, thought the Illini and Razorbacks were much tougher teams, also Wyoming, and Tulsa, thought Bakersfield improved last season, maybe it was the year before.Looking at your RPI data,I revise my opinion a little on the side of the schedule looking a little on the weak side.

This looks like a pretty good NC schedule for a team with a new coach and players taking on some new roles. Work out some kinks, build some confidence, win SL for 3rd straight time, and be ready to win 3 in a row in SF.
