Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how special she has been this year? Obviously we're only 12 games into the season but I just wanted to throw this out there. Losing Seekamp was obviously huge because it affected the team in more than just scoring ways because she was the facilitator and the one you could count on to take a shot down the stretch. Let's compare numbers... Nicole Seekamp 2015-16 (Summit League Player of the Year)PTS/G
15.9 (5th in SL) FG %
45.0 (11th in SL) 3PT %
37.4 (8th in SL) FT %
86.4 (1st in SL) REB/G
3.9 (30th in SL) A/G
6.4 (1st in SL) Allison Arens 2016-17PTS/G
20.4 (1st in SL) FG %
56.2 (2nd in SL, 0.3% behind 1st; also 1st in FGM and FGA per game) 3PT %
48.6 (3rd in SL) FT %
85.1 (4th in SL, 2nd in FTM/G) REB/G
5.4 (13th in SL) A/G
4.4 (3rd in SL) It's been incredible to see her growth over the last 12 months. 2.5 more years of an Arens/Bradley backcourt? YES PLEASE!!!

Great info yotebewithyou! Allison leads Nicole in 4 of the 6 categories which is amazing since she's a soph and Nicole's numbers are as a senior!!

To say that Allison Arens has been a pleasant surprise would be an understatement. She (and Bradley for that matter) has taken an incredible step forward this sophomore season. Will not be surprised to see her get 1st team SL honors.

If that is the case then we need Jaycee Bradley for vice president, Abigail Fogg for secretary of state, Ciara Duffy for secretary of transportation and most especially Madison McKeever for secretary of defense. Elder sister Bridget can be secretary of energy (who cares if that is an actual office).

I don't see how Allison is not first team all conference so far. Bradley should be second team and maybe Fogg somewhere in there as well. I think the Coyotes are better than Northern Illinois but I thought maybe tonight the Yotes were just gonna run out of gas but they were having none of that. When the game was on the line the Coyotes came through when it mattered most. I heard on the radio post game that no Coyote has scored 30 before tonight since Contreras did it in January of 2015 against SDSU. Arens has the perfect athletic build for a very good basketball player. I wonder how Coyote recruit and sister Monica measures up with Bridget and Allison. Hopefully they just keep getting better for each successive sibling. :-)

Coyotes Womens BB fans have really been treated to some great coaches over the years, and Coach P is all of that. Let's finish the Illinois sweep and go get our 3-Peat in the SL!! Coach Plitzuweit has been outstanding and she cannot be credited enough for how this year has started. She deserves a lot of kudos for leaving Northern Kentucky for this job. The job was at a high point in desirability when she took it but at the same time she took a risk as well. She is taking over for a coach that pretty much earned legendary status in her 4 short years at USD. She was taking over a program that had three straight successful coaches and after a WNIT championship there is a little pressure to at least be a pretty solid basketball team. She has taken this opportunity and has absolutely killed it so far. I had a good feeling about this after even only seeing them play 2 games. They were not over the top great at first but you could see the work ethic, togetherness and toughness that Dawn has instilled as the base of this team. Last years team was obviously very good but many times during the non conference season they kind of just coasted. Obviously since the NDSU game on the road the team took off. This team this year has really not had a bad game in 13 starts. It's easy to hold onto last years team and put this years team a notch or two below them. With what I have seen so far I simply cannot do that. This team has had a better non conference season than last years teams did. It will be a tall order to match last years team during the second half of the year but if the Yotes do not take a step backwards the ceiling just keeps getting higher and the team for sure is still getting better. Amy Williams was likely a step up from Ryun Williams and Ryun Williams was the same of maybe a step up from Lavin. Odds were that this continued uptick was eventually going to stall at some point. Stall it has not. Some how, Some way Dawn is trying to raise the bar even higher. This program is a true delight to follow.

Yes Congratulations to Allison!! She seems very modest and unassuming and from the interviews I've seen a very hard worker so these recognitions are especially well deserved!!
