Never ceases to amaze me at the quality...and now quantity of T&F athletes that continue coming through this program! We've arguably got the best pole vault program in the country. Great job Lucky, Derek, and all of the other coaches and assistants. Fun stuff to watch.

Chris attempts to win a national title tonight at 7 pm our time I believe on ESPN 2.
Emily gets after it tomorrow night at 7
Danielle at 8:40 pm tomorrow
Really awesome to be talking about USD athletes competing for national championships.
GOOD LUCK

Sometimes the ESPN broadcasts will focus on the track events and show very little of the field events. You should be able to catch all of the mens pole vault action on this live stream

Chris tied for 3rd as far as I can tell.

I watched it on the pole-vault-only live stream on ESPN. It appeared several vaulters (?) were struggling with the weather conditions and unpredictable wind. That said - as a true freshman, Chris was clearly disappointed with finishing 3rd! My whole family was watching it - it is a fun event. We like watching T&F on the rare occasion it is on TV.
Congrats Chris! Looking forward to the next few years!

I could have made the same post word for word as you, gopheryote. It appeared that at times weather conditions (wind direction and precipitation) changed so that one vaulter might have been advantaged over another.
Hope to see Chris compete for the national title again next year!

The only vaulter with a better mark was Sam Kendricks, who won bronze in Rio last year. Chris also beat out the other two vaulters that the US sent to the 2016 Olympics. Decent for a freshman.
