Taylor Terronez is the daughter of Troy Terronez. Troy was a four-year starter for Dave Boots 1989-94...member of a Coyote Hall of Fame team that made two Elite 8 appearances. I believe Taylor's mom, Melissa Terronez, was a good track runner for USD and for several years worked in the USD Athletic Dept office assisting Coaches Gotts and Huber.
Regan Sankey was named first team all-state in Class A (biggest class) in Nebraska by both the OWH and the LJS. Looking forward to watching her the next four years.
Apparently they are both walk-ons. I'm fairly certain that walk-ons still count in terms of title-IX numbers. I'm not sure if they count towards the 15 max scholarships, though. I'm thinking they don't. For a women's sport, the addition of walk-ons is a win-win in terms of balancing the men's sports, and allows more walk-ons in a sport like football (I think).
Coach P's comments on these two girls:
"Courtney was a consummate leader on and off the court for her team at Big Foot High School," said Plitzuweit. "She led her team further in their playoff history than they have ever advanced and did so by stuffing the stat sheet as well as by being a vocal and inspirational leader for the Chiefs. We are excited to welcome Courtney and her family to our Coyote program!"
"Taylor is the definition of an energizer bunny on and off the court," said Plitzuweit. "When you meet Taylor, she has an infectious level of enthusiasm and she applies that to her game as well. On the court, she has great length, athleticism and an incredible motor. What is really special about Taylor is that both her parents are USD alumni and her dad, Troy, played for the Coyotes on the hardwood from 1990-94. Taylor can now follow in her dad's footsteps. We feel like we are welcoming Taylor and her family 'back home' to Vermillion!"
I'm guessing this could mean they just got a big commit? This is transfer season, so it would make sense......
I don't have a twitter account, so I couldn't guess who this might be. I assume it will come out soon. If someone wants to try and solve the riddle based on follows, be my guest.
