Hello Coyote Fans, Two-year basketball championships tickets are going on sale March 4. These are for the seats in the middle of the bowl at the Summit League Tournament. Purchasing these tickets is how SDSU fans are able to fill up that main bowl area every year while we are mostly relegated to the corner. We highly encourage all USD fans who intend to go to the tournament every year to purchase these tickets on March 4 when they go on sale. And spread the word. This is how we get more Coyote fans into those seats. Make sure you do it immediately on March 4 at 10am. More information here: thesummitleague.org/sports/wbkb/2016-17/releases/20170223nbaogdPlease call the ticket office if you have any questions, or you can contact me at Joe.Thuente@usd.edu. Go Yotes!

I hope there are good seats in the lower bowl available. I'm getting the impression plenty will be not for sale because of renewals.

I bought tickets in the original 2-year sales event that took place on September 30, 2015 that were for tickets for the 2016 and 2017 Summit Tournament. The Premier Center offered us the option of renewing our same seats for the 2018 and 2019 tournaments, and the deadline to renew was January 27, 2017.
I would expect that most people that bought tickets in 2015 would have renewed their same seats as these were some of the best seats in the arena. I'm guessing there won't be many seats available in the prime seating area for purchase on March 4th, but I could be wrong.
It is too bad someone didn't try to coordinate this back in 2015. I remember that there were two presales at the time, one for people that purchased Summit Baseball (yes baseball) tickets and one the next day for those that had 2015 Summit all-session basketball tickets. There was lots of chatter on the SDSU board but nothing on this board.

I think this year I will be getting corporate seats, but would purchase for the future. I hope that in 2019 when UND joins they re-open all of the ticket sales so they can be distributed more evenly. Knowing that event coordinators want to ensure ticket sales, I am skeptical of this.

Maybe this ridiculous set-up can be asked of Commissioner Douple when he speaks at Lunch With The U. Along with the crazy-ass scheduling of State/U games.

Maybe this ridiculous set-up can be asked of Commissioner Douple when he speaks at Lunch With The U. Along with the crazy-ass scheduling of State/U games. You can sure ask The Commish about ticket sales for the Summit Tourney, but I would guess he will say the two-year ticket scheme was Wes Hall's idea and the new guy in charge of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority which is Bryan Miller decided to keep the system going. It makes great sense for Bryan Miller, because everyone that likes their seats will get to keep their seats and the Premier Center will be full of enthusiastic fans. As for your question about the State/U games, he will say that the weekends will rotate throughout the years and every 5-6 years these rivalry games will be played when the students are gone for break. As for the times of the games, he will say those are set by each of the Athletic Directors at the individual schools, so that if fans are unhappy that the games overlapped, and if fans wished they could drive to one school, watch the one game, and drive to the other school to watch the second game, that they should ask D. Herbster why the women's game wasn't later in the afternoon (or ask Sell at State why the Men's game wasn't earlier).

To clarify, I meant voice frustration and ask for change more than simply getting the history, but either way, the buck stops with him so let him answer.

Apparently you can't have a discussion without SDSTC fans thinking you are whining. I am not whining and will get tickets regardless. It is just interesting to see what they will do when a new member joins. Its funny they make fun of other teams for not having as many fans, but then don't want them to purchase tickets. That makes a ton of sense. I did not know the ticket allocation a few years ago, I guess that's on me, and that's fine. At least there will be a ton of tickets available when the Jacks men get beat in the first round.

If there aren't any seats in the lower bowl between the baselines available I'm not even going to bother buying these 2018 2019 tickets in advance. I'll rely on our ticket office and wait for the conference to give everyone a fair shake to buy tickets two years at a time.

The ticketing in the Premier Center was definitely one advantage state fans got from their 5 year head start on D1. To their credit, they filled up the old arena and when they gave previous ticket holders first crack at 2 year packages they held on with a death grip.
The only solace is that they haven't come close to actually selling out the Denny yet, so getting a seat isn't an issue. I've opted to go single session so I'm not locked into seats for sessions I don't want. It also provides flexibility if the wife can't come or we want to bring the kids.
Either way, we need to have more red in the Denny and we need to be vocal no matter where we sit.

I've been going to the Summit League Tournament since its inception and the process of getting tickets has actually varied quite a bit throughout the years. in 2012, (I believe anyway) USD was in the Summit League but was not post-season eligible. The Sioux Falls Sports Authority announced and put on sale the 2013 tickets on the Saturday morning of the 2012 tournament. The tickets for 2013 went on sale at somewhere around 9:00AM. I remember getting there at around 5:30 AM to get in line for the ticket sales. Only two other people had shown up that early, both SDSU Fans. By the time the tickets were actually available at 9:00AM, I counted back and the first other Coyote fan in line was somewhere about 130 people deep....everyone else there appeared to be wearing SDSU garb. I must admit that I was surprised that other USD fans didn't show up to buy those lower level tickets knowing that the Coyotes would be playing in the 2013 tournament. It wasn't until after that year that they started the two year thing. I've got great seats for the event and even though I'm given the early option to renew as others have posted, I've found that being diligent with the process pays off because it's easy to miss those deadlines. While I know that this format apparently is working for them, I wouldn't necessarily be surprised to see them make at least some changes to how tickets are being sold in future years.

Will you be surprised if there are no Fighting Hawk fans in line Saturday morning for 2 year tickets? I'm sure they have no idea about this sale, and why would they? They will be in the league in the summer of 2018. The 2019 tournament will be a fun surprise for their fans, don't you think?
