Tonight the Coyotes find out their opponent. Let's hope like hell that everything goes right for Denver tonight and they somehow find their earlier season magic and the Jacks revert back to the early season Jacks. I wouldn't hold my breath though but this has been a weird tourney so anything is possible and almost probable.
Looking at the Jacks and getting to them. I said in an earlier post that guard play and defense win in the post season including in conference tournaments. The Jacks have made three NCAA tourney appearances and all of them (I believe) have come with either Wolters or the combo of Marshall and Parks, excellent guard play to say the least. Obviously with Nagy as coach who preached defense. They are a totally different team now with an offense first coach and guard play that is marginal at best. Daum is all world and no one would question that but he still needs help and as much as people talk about the Coyotes lack of tourney experience the Jacks are probably even more inexperienced with a first year coach and many new players, or players playing much bigger roles.
The Coyotes just cannot lose to South Dakota State on Monday, they just can't. If they do it's not the end of world and the sky would not be falling but it would lose several of it's support beams. In D1 the Jacks have dominated the Coyotes in the sports that matter and even in Women's basketball they tend to win the games that matter most. With a #1 vs #4 probable for Monday the pressure is unfortunately on the Coyotes but they are simply the better team with more ways to beat you then what the Jacks can beat the Coyotes with. That doesn't guarantee a win but the Yotes simply do more things well than SDSU does.
