I'm surprised Colorado made it this year. They didn't have a very good year, very poor conference record. If we manage to beat Iowa we will be playing State. In verm or bunnyland? Hard to say. According to the WNIT website they consider attendance, bids, and tourney seeding. That is pretty vague, and our two teams have both been good in attendance. If it comes down to bids, I like our chances. Not sure how they can consider seeding when there are no seeds. If RPI, Jacks have the edge. Would love another shot at them, but would prefer it in Vermillion.

And of course the bunny women get to play at home for their game... Not surprising. We hosted Colorado in the NIT way back in like 2012. If seeding was honestly a factor we never would have gone to Minnesota last year or Northern Colorado the year before. It's all about cash.

Plan on playing in Brookings when Yotes chew up birds in Iowa.
Summit League was right on edge of getting an at large this season. Shame that SDSU & USD on collision course so early in wnit.
Good luck in Iowa, and let's fill up an arena for these great teams in the next round.

rabidrabbit--It's very rare that I agree with most of a bunny poster's comments but I agree with your post except Yotes will be hosting the bunnies!! You must be working on a graduate degree from USD!!!

Probably right, but the attendance part of the equation is about cash, too. I don't think there are actual seeds in the WNIT, but based on RPI, Iowa(#64) has a better one than us, and Colorado (#110) has a much worse one than State. Also Iowa WBB draws a lot more fans than Colorado. (2016 ave 4,688 to 2,087 respectively). With Minnesota, I don't know what their RPI was, but they averaged 3,528 per game last year. Pretty sure they had a good RPI too. They had a future WNBA player that was kind-of Kelsey Plumb-like with her scoring. With Northern Colorado I think the bid must have been the main thing.

It seems that I recall with Northern Colorado that travel had a large role in the Yotes going there. I recall that UNC had a short turnaround from their previous game and the winner of the UNC/USD game was going to go to San Diego State or some other west coast team after that. For some reason, I remember those logistics being the biggest reason in why USD traveled for that one.

Great win Lady Yotes!! The D was especially impressive!! Really nice minutes by Taylor Frederick!!Ground the hawks Sat!! GO YOTES!!! I was really impressed by Fredrick tonight. She looked to shoot, had strong drives to the bucket and was definitely playing with more confidence. I took my kids and sat right behind the basket for the second half just for a different perspective of the game. Being that close to the action, I could definitely tell that the Coyotes wanted the win more than the Hawks. The Coyotes outworked and out scraped them on every possession and I hope that intensity carries over to Saturday.

From the WNIT's perspective, a bidding war will be a win-win. plus the place will be packed at either venue.

BUT, it sure makes you wonder about Kate Liveringhouse. They go to the bench early and often, and a 20 point lead most of the second half and Kate can't get in the game until the last minute scrub time. She must have done something to find her way into the doghouse.
