This is great news. Since I have no life so to speak, after Cousin Eddie mentioned his name I spent some time doing some internet searching and all I can say that he is really impressive. I read through some of the clips from Bay Area newspapers and watched video from TV news broadcasts and Nathan seems like a total prime time player. He sure has the awards and accolades against some major high school competition in California. I think we might have gotten a really good one here. Great job Coach Lee!

It is kind of hard for me to gauge the level of competition he is running up against, but I really think we may have gotten steal here. A hidden gem discovered by coach Lee.
The mix of guys he ended up signing in this class is actually quite remarkable. A true point guard available to play right away, a HUGE big man available to play right away, a 6'4" guard that lead his team to the Cali state championship (leading scorer, best defender, dunk contest winner), a 6'8" Aussie that played the PG position and shoots the long ball, and a 6'9" Serbian that played one year in the US and also appears very skilled. Jay and Cody can contribute to this team immediately. The two foreigners and Robinson can redshirt, if desired. All of the sudden this team, ON PAPER, actually looks more complete than it did when Craig was here. Who in their right mind expected to see that 2-3 months ago?

The mix of guys he ended up signing in this class is actually quite remarkable. I agree. And it didn't take all summer to get his guys in. I can't wait to see what a full-recruiting-cycle class of Lee's will look like. This class, I think, shows the deep contacts that Lee has developed in his years of coaching and recruiting. He seems to have a long history of success recruiting: Australians --------------------------------------(Matthew) International Players ---------------------------(Simeon) Former Prep School (post-secondary) players (Cody) Former Ju-Co players ---------------------------(Jay) West Coast players ------------------------------(Nate) I feel like he has a lot of eyes and ears in those five sources that he consults, based on his history, and the speed of putting this class together. JMO At both Kentucky Wesleyan and Grand Canyon, he also always had some local area talent on the roster. Hopefully having Kasperbauer on the staff could help with that in the future. Just having some level of success helps with local recruiting, too.

From the info I gleaned it appeared that Nathan was an early commit to the University of San Francisco Dons. Don't know what happened there, but I'm elated that he fell into our lap. As for the level of competition he played against I can assure you it is among the best in the United States. These are schools that produce multiple D1 players every season and rank with the best in the country. Chino Hills, who Las Lomas played for the state title and infamous for having the Ball brothers on their squad, won the national championship recently. Public and private schools out there recruit like crazy to build teams and many will be nationally ranked on Rivals and in USA Todays polls. Cousin Eddie is spot on. I think we got a steal here.

Awesome info on the USF commitment. Might explain some things in terms of why he wasn’t more heavily recruited recently.

Nate is a player! His team lost in the D1 State Championship by 3 points. He was their leading scorer for the season with over 20 pts/game and league MVP. Appears to have all the tools--quickness, leaping ability, 3 pt shot, plays very good D, assists, dunk champion at 6'4", etc. Really good college prospect!

I don't know how you dug that up, but it's quite the find. I think hoops is going to be extremely exciting in the foreseeable future. Looking forward to seeing how everyone meshes together.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCu1kAXe9QAHere is the film of the game. I think you can find film of the other games from the tournament as well, as this is FIBA. I haven't watched it, but since Nathan scored 19 points on 50% shooting, I suspect it may be an enjoyable watch.
