You know Smith is still recruiting Greisel and Fakira after reading this...

interesting I wonder how a MWC fan base feels about getting their recruit from a summit league school. Especially since they lost their top returning player to transfer. Situation where maybe neither side is happy with the outcome. But you know what? I'm ok and trust Todd Lee is going to do just fine bringing players to vermillion. Go Yotes!!

What's considered tampering? I mean here we have players who have signed letters of intent at USD, it was our recruiting budget that was spent on these players and now a coach from another school can talk to them and convince them to ask for a release and sign with his school. And please don't tell me that they did this on their own; no one's naïve enough to believe that. To me this is in no way shape or form ethical.

Ethics don't really have a place in college athletics.

Ethics don't really have a place in college athletics. One of the last conversations I had with Coach Smith was about the FBI investigations and all the shenanigans going on in college hoops. He even alluded to the fact that there were a few coaches in the Summit, none of whom were in the Dakotas, that were in on some things that would be considered questionable, but that there's an understood code of silence among coaches. He didn't think lowering yourself to that level was worth it. There are also unwritten rules amongst coaches which, like the unwritten rules in baseball, some might think of as stupid, but, see above. This is one of them.

I agree with you, but we REALLY need some positive news to come out of the men's bball program right now. I am all in on Coach Lee. Love everything I've heard about him. I am rarely negative on these boards, but we are on such a downward trend of negative news. We need to hear about a new recruit coming in or a new asst coach... something positive. I can't speak for rest of fan base, but I don't even want to look at men's bball message boards right now. We've now lost Mooney and all three new recruits. Time for some college football... Spring Game can't come at a better time.

We'll learn of the other assistants soon, then new recruits will follow.

This will all bottom out and then it will start to get better. It's flushing the system time, after that we'll see who is left and then the building process will begin.

It's just that I had such high expectations for this next year... Still do... but will be much higher mountain to climb than it should've been.

Couldn't help it...peeked over on the Utah State message board and they were pretty much bashing signing Knight seeing the level of offers he had received other than USD and questioning whether that's the kind of recruit to expect in the future. Also what I found semi fascinating is the fact they were also questioning the hiring of Peterson and Hansen as assistants and wondering why Smith hasn't hired any assistants who are LDS. Different culture out there.

Hoo boy. I've only known one person from Utah, and that LDS culture was exactly why they wouldn't move back. I wouldn't want to move into that.

I got to thinking today, and I seem to recall Any Williams taking at least one of our commits with her to Nebraska. I don't however remember anyone being upset about the incidents surrounding her move. What changed? This isn't necessarily directed at anyone. Posters here seem more upset about Smith's departure than Amy's and I'm curious as to why.
