Somebody should remind Zimmer that the 'Yotes have two guards returning this season that kept Arens and Bradley on the bench as freshmen. No one should ever bring rationale into a topic with someone that has been injected with Jackrabbit serum. If Alison Arens was on the Rabbits and Macy was on the Coyotes the Argus would be drooling all over Arens and no one would hardly mention Miller.

Somebody should remind Zimmer that the 'Yotes have two guards returning this season that kept Arens and Bradley on the bench as freshmen. Thanks. I don't know if it's smart or not, but it is a reality of the situation, a situation that will require a good coach and good kids. All-conference honors rely heavily on numbers and with the way that guard rotation looks I think it would be nearly impossible for Arens and Bradley to reach the minutes, usage and shot attempts they saw last year. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Now that's not to say that I don't think that from a guard rotation of Arens, Bradley, Trimboli, McKeever, the elder Duffy (and maybe another freshman?) that those two can't make the all-conference team (heck, any of those two could conceivably) ... but I doubt it's going to be the same situation we saw last year shot-wise or minute-wise for anybody. And that's going to play with raw numbers, which play with all-conference selections. And we haven't even factored in the expected frosh to sophomore jump of the Summit Freshman of the Year from last year, or what I would imagine would be a pretty strong year numbers-wise for Liveringhouse, a very experienced player who has played in basically every game since she stepped on campus and enters her senior year with 600 points. All I'm saying is that all-conference for the 'Yotes could be seeing a lot of votes going a lot of places.

Looks about right to me, but I would have put Western first. They return about everyone, but State obviously got the benefit of the doubt with Miller back. Also there is bound to be a contributing post player or two in Stevens/Larson/Selland. AJ has no doubt earned the benefit of the doubt, but I'd still put the returning champs first, especially with no attrition.
I am surprised Bradley didn't make at least 2nd team. Caitlin D will make the post-season all-conference IMO.

Like usual USD gets no benefit of any doubt. The absolute lowest they can legitimately be polled is always where they end up. SDSU has not finished first in the past 3 years so these polls are based on nothing but history. Macy Miller has never led the Jacks to the regular season conference title. I just don't get it. The Coyotes are starting on much higher ground this year then they did last year. The Jacks have Miller back but the Coyotes have Alison Arens back and she isn't coming off a torn ACL. They are fairly similar as far as the caliber of player that they both are. The Jacks were not playing well when Miller went out of their lineup so they underachieved before she was lost for the year. I really hope this team once again plays with a chip on their shoulder and plays as if they are being disrespected.

Yeah I don't get not having the returning champs at #1, but I am not shocked considering they get picked every year. Any of the top three are deserving. I still don't think Ellie Thompson is a 1st team player. She is good, but I would put Thundstedt above her.

Also, can anyone tell me why Riley Cascio-Jensen doesn't have to sit out a season? I can't think of a reason.

Of course every single media member in South Dakota that covers basketball knows that Miller is coming back, but of those same people maybe about 10% of them even think twice about the fact that Trimboli (hopefully) and Duffy will be back. I am not saying that the Coyotes deserved to be first in the poll but SDSU has no more reason to be ranked ahead of Western Illinois then USD does. So of the big three no Coyote teams football, MBB or WBB has ever been the pre season favorite to win their league. Football never has deserved the notice and basketball not really either but the bottom line is that the hoops teams have now won 3 conference titles with no pre-season accolades to match. Will the men's basketball team be the first or will the media darling Jacks get the nod once again. I know this sounds like whining but as a fan it really irks me to see this disrespect year after year.

No, I don't see it as whining at all, from your perspective it's perfectly understandable how you could feel you are not given the respect your teams have earned. I would be a little peeved too , if the same thing happened to my team, especially the year after year part. I kinda agree with you, as a matter of fact.I'm a Jacks fan,but USD is a close second, just a SD athletics fan in general. I started following the Jacks, specifically the women's basketball team first, because they were beating USC (who were ranked top 25) and lots of other BCS schools, and they were Div 1( during the 5 yr probationary period while transitioning ) while USD was still playing at the Div 2 level. I still remember watching USD women's team with Amber Hegge as a fr and the two sisters from the Mitchell area (Jenna and Jeanna Hoffman) play, I think it was the N.Kentucky Norst, in the Div 2 women's NCAA Championship game.It was a hard fought close loss, and a little later prior to the NCAA tournament , they played against UNC Tar Heels in a tune up game (exhibition), and led much of the way in that game. Was very proud of those two games and the performances those teams gave. And your winning the WNIT of course. Your NCAA appearance against Stanford (tough draw for your first time in the dance), but you performed admirably. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the link. So basically because she was not considered "recruited" by NU (still played in 29 games) she is immediately available. Meanwhile, Severyn redshirted at SDSU, but still had to sit out another year. Probably because she was recruited. Makes sense. *rolls eyes*

Yeah,I was kind of wondering myself,Chynna Stevens for the Jacks, transferred to University of San Diego, didn't play for a yr there, transferred back to SDSU,but had to sit a year (last yr).To me her situation was pretty much the same as Ryley's,minor differences (maybe being recruited and on scholarship but redshirting?),I really don't know what the determining factor is in making these judgements for them,it's the NCAA after all.
