Good news from Omaha depending on your perspective. Creighton defeated South Dakota State 72-65. I didn't see that coming. Wonder what the story was there... It is amazing how different they are when not in the cozy confines. It was looking like they were robot's for awhile though but they are human after all. I was reading some of their fans and Zimmer on the Argus Chat and they were thinking it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that they would win the Summit tourney. I guess they didn't say the regular season would be a foregone conclusion because they actually have to play road games so there might be 3 teams with a chance to win that title. I was actually very happy to read that because the last time they started presuming things was just last year and they were pretty much a shoe in for the sweet 16. Problem is they finished 3rd in the conference and out in round 2 of the tourney and followed that with a 2nd round loss at home in the WNIT.

Western Illinois 71, #18 Stanford 64.
Wow.
Stanford was just 6-4 coming in but their losses were to #5 Ohio State, #1 UCONN, #9 Ohio State (lost to them twice apparently), and #9 Baylor

Holy crap!!! Even Zimmer is acknowledging that the bunny women may not be the best team in the conference this year...

I think Stanford is way overrated. Their ranking has been earned by losing to high ranked teams. There is a difference in sports between just competing with good teams and actually winning games. I know lots of teams across the spectrum of sports that can compete with any team they play but they have a hard time actually winning games. The phrase "playing to the level of your competition" comes to mind.

I don't get the disrespect for WIU. They are the defending champs.

My post wasn't a disrespect towards WIU, it was a statement regarding Stanford. It's still a good win for WIU, but I think Stanford is overrated.

What this shows is that the Coyotes have a long ways to go if they want to crack the top 2 in the conference this year. They may have to get it together just to finish 4th or 5th. Over rated or not winning at Sanford on a west coast trip is a very good win.

Yotes still have the talent to beat anyone in the Summit. Conference play begins Dec 30th so we shall see how they do once that begins.

one of the two between the talent level or the heart needs to be better. I think the talent level question might actually be a bigger question than is was before the season. I thought the Coyotes would be ahead of where they are right now. Riverside will be a test tonight.

Hard to get a read on this team... It's like a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an inigma.....
On the plus side, they don't REALLY have to be playing great basketball until the SLT, so there's plenty of time. Since the only goal is making the big dance, we only have to win three games in Sioux Falls. At least, that has been the narrative we have been lectured by the Jacks, so it must be true...
