Thanks tator. I can't get it to stream for some reason. I will catch it on the radio and watch the live-stats. =)

Cold shooting doomed USD from the start. How many layups were missed? I think TBM missed 3 or 4 himself. Can’t miss the easy shots and miss FT down the stretch and expect to win.
Side note: I’ve seen 5th grade basketball games reffed better then that one. It is so hard to watch a game that is so poorly officiated. There was no consistency what so ever.

Gosh what a disappointing walk out of the Pentagon tonight. I thought N Colorado looked good against Youngstown but I didn't expect them to beat the Yotes tonight. Even before their win over the Coyotes I thought they were a dark horse in the Big Sky. They will be a team I will be keeping an eye on.
I can't fault the team effort tonight. They just didn't execute very well. UNC deserves a lot of credit because they played some pretty good D tonight. The Yotes had to work hard for everything they got. It was a gritty game by both teams. I heard on the radio that Mooney, Hagedorn and Burch-Manning were collectively 8 for 40 something shooting tonight. It was just one of those nights. The Coyotes were careless on their long passes trying to get an easy basket up court. It was just fitting that Mooney missed the three at the buzzer with the way the rest of the night went.
I think in general the Coyotes just don't play that well in the Pentagon or the Premier Center. Maybe it is just a Sioux Falls thing. Football hasn't played well in SF either. They lost to NDSU and played a couple of games up there during the roof renovation which was right after 9-11. That goes for men and women in basketball. The Coyotes lost to UNLV which was totally expected and now UNC. The Coyotes don't lose to teams like the Bears at the SCSC.
I am glad the Coyotes got this game out of their system now instead of at a much more important time. Next time Mooney has a shot to win or lose a game I think he is gonna bury it. That goes for any Coyotes. We will take the buzzer beater miss this time to have the fortune come full circle at another time.

Yotes did today what I anticipated yesterday with a 81-53 win. Clearly determined to not be as poor as they were last night

Really solid performance by MBB today. Total domination. Armstrong has the skill to score like that consistently and I think he will develop into that - hopefully by SLT time.
Disappointed in the Sioux Falls area USD alumni. Terrrible attendance - embarrassing really.

Watched the game today on Fox Sports North. Good game, but those announcers! They promoted the Pentagon, Sioux Falls, the Coyotes (big time), as well as the entire state. Enjoyed it, even if it was a bit over the top..
Great game for some bench players to show their capabilities and they did.

Disappointed in the Sioux Falls area USD alumni. Terrrible attendance - embarrassing really. Attendance was bad. The Pentagon is hard pressed to get a turnout when we play one game there each year, three games in a weekend against lackluster competition will yield the poor results we just saw. I wish this was in Vermillion instead. Attendance would have been much better.

If you are saying that there weren’t many cars in the parking lot of the Pentagon today that had a SD plate with a 19 or 7 number on them I would whole-heartedly agree. Excluding paid USD employees, there may have been more fans from Ida Grove, Iowa than Vermillion at the game! Seems strange to me that all of the Vermillion folks that would have gone to the games if they were held in Vermillion suddenly had a full calendar and couldn’t make it on the same days with a less than one hours drive away. Confusing to me. The great thing about the interstate is the road goes both ways.

I live in Sioux Falls - and my point was - there were a disappointing amount of empty seats considering Minnehaha county has the most USD alumni. I am bad at estimating attendance, but it looked like fewer than 1000.

Confusing to me. The great thing about the interstate is that road goes both ways. The whole Showcase isn't an enticing proposition to Vermillionaires. We get so many games in Vermillion, what's the appeal of driving to Sioux Falls three days in a row to watch the Yotes play non-conference games against teams who had RPIs of 256, 287, and 331 last year? It's a neat venue, and was more enjoyable yet when we still played in the Dome, but even a diehard like myself wasn't convinced about making the trip. It took a football watch party yesterday and then free box tickets today to get me to the Pentagon. I think the competition needs to dramatically increase if they want people to show up.

I'd guess the fanbase is way too casual though and was willing to settle on going to just one game, if any.

Today's attendance was atrocious. Having this tourney at the Pentagon is a chance to showcase the Coyotes to Sioux Falls but as far as attendance goes it is the responsibility of the entire fan base to show up not just those in Sioux Falls but the Sioux Falls fans deserve a lot of criticism. Today's attendance was nowhere near a thousand. I think 400 or 500 is much closer. Let's not forget that this University is of South Dakota so everyone in the state has a responsibility more so than just one city or another. Vermillion should be honored to host USD and not consider it some type of god given right.
Why should Sanford continue to host a tourney featuring the Coyotes when their fans don't seem to really care. With only about 2500 seats this classic should be something that people need to work to get tickets. Might as well have this classic be with SDSU every year because I am sure they show up in much greater numbers. People say that if you win they will come. That is far from the truth with the men's and women's teams. They are both good and they are both fun to watch. Honestly the attendance in Vermillion is not that great either. It is a problem period. As far as average attendance not including the SDSU games the Coyotes might actually come in 4th behind SDSU, Northern and Augie. I am not sure about Augie but I know they show up in Aberdeen to cheer on the Wolves, or at least they did. The Coyote fan base is out of excuses. We are far from the transition. The Summit is now a familiar entity and the basketball is of high quality. The crowd deserves a D-.
Now to the actual Coyotes who deserve much better commentary. The first thing that came to mind in today's game is Brandon Armstrong. Wow did he have a nice stretch of play. I only considered him a solid (not bad at all) player previously but he showed a big time game today and he should have earned himself some extra minutes going forward. He had some smooth threes and a really nice cross over move on a drive to the basket where he did good not to travel. I didn't think the Coyotes were very good for the first 10 minutes as they were sloppy but they played very well for the last 30 minutes and didn't give the Pens a prayer. YSU missed many make-able shots so they were not helping themselves very much at all.
It was nice to see the bench more today and it certainly didn't impede the overall play of the team. Armstrong and Fuller should play more. I kind of wonder why Umude pulled his redshirt off and why Smith was ok with it because he isn't even seeing the floor. It would have been nice for him to play from the 10:00 mark on in the second half when the game was out of reach. Some of the guys playing ahead of him are what they are and will never be part of the normal rotation but Stanley appears to have a chance to play significant minutes and be a player on this team. We need to see what we have in him that way when the Coyotes really need him they will know more what he brings to the table. It seems like he is a promising recruit with some tools. If he doesn't get the PT now, once the Summit season starts he will be buried on the bench and in the tourney he will be an afterthought and then a year of eligibility is nearly wasted. I would rather see him get a few more minutes and make a few errors and be better for it later in the year.

TBM is 6'6" and athletic. If you have a wide open look at the hoop, throw it down. He did once yesterday, but missed a number of very easy ones on Saturday. Very frustrating. Mooney looked a step slower too. Not the end of the world. Their guards played well, but agree, officiating was terrible. Absolute bailout call at the end. I would have been a lot more upset Saturday night if the football game had ended differently. Long season.

Not to make excuses for the low turn-out, but it should be noted that the event was, well, boring. Southern Miss was probably the biggest draw from a novelty standpoint, but all three teams are home/home scheduling type of teams. The building isn't anymore. Blaring music followed by dead silence (NBA-style) is awful.
And an elephant in the room: season ticket holders forked out good money for a lousy home schedule, the idea of forking out $20/ticket for more lousy games - on top of hundreds/thousands of dollars for SLT tix - and I think there was an excess supply of expensive crappy games which exceeded demand.
