The Lady Fighting Hawks come in with a record of 7-3 tonight. Two of their wins are against Northern Iowa and NDSU. This should be a challenging game. Go Lady Yotes!!

UND has been a very good rebounding team, and we have struggled there a little.
If there are a couple of weaknesses they have that we can exploit, I'd say 3-point shooting and turnovers:
They are allowing 34.8% from the arc; we are shooting 34.1% on the season, and 39.1% in the last game.
They are forcing 15.5 turnovers/game; we are committing 14.5, and only 11.8 in the last 4 games!
They are committing 17.0 turnovers/game; we are forcing 17.1, and 18.5 in the last 4 games!

I'm also hoping to see Ciara Duffy continue to progress. In the last three games back from injury she has steadily improved. Against Riverside she had 16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 3 steals! Great all-around performance.
Duffy/Trimboli/Liveringhouse need to battle UND's bigs and challenge them on the boards IMO.

I thought Liveringhouse played very, very well against Riverside, which will have to continue. I totally agree with Kiyoat on the rebounding ... it will be a key the rest of the year.
I thought the rotation (six players at 23 or more minutes, two with 14 and 10) made more sense.
And I thought Lamb's two big threes bode well heading into the meat of the schedule. I really like her confidence as a freshman.
Let's see if they can build on it heading into tonight's game.

This is a difficult one to predict. It's too bad the Men play Northwood as the draw isn't there for that game. Tonight is all about the Women's game. It could go either way. If this game was in Grand Forks I would definitely take UND. They played the Jacks fairly close in Brookings and defeated UNI which is a good win.
The Coyotes are not playing good ball right now so despite the home court I gotta go with North Dakota 78-73. If the Coyotes do pull out the win they will be back to some semblance of their competitive self. UND is a difficult challenge.

What does UND have this year compared to last? We smoked them in the NIT last season.

What does UND have this year compared to last? We smoked them in the NIT last season. That's what I was wondering. They looked just plain bad in the WNIT last season...like Ft Wayne bad. Maybe they just picked that particular game to stink it up. Anyway, don't think the ladies can take anything for granted. Should be a good test before conference begins.

I don't think they were a bad team last year, they were 20-11 and won the regular season Big Sky title. They lost three in a row to end the season, though. Maybe something like injuries or unfavorable match-ups did them in. I remember that was a huge game for AA. She went off. I'm not really sure how this game will go match-up-wise. We have been all over the map, and don't have a strong identity, other than shooting free-throws well, having a decent defense, and getting steals.

I am guessing North Dakota will be at about the same level they were at last year. The WNIT game was one of those Murphy's Law games for the Hawks. The Coyotes just had everything go right in that game. The Yotes level at the very moment just isn't at where it was earlier in this year. I was hoping the Coyotes would really have a bounce back game against Riverside and I don't think they did even though they won the game.
Most of the time I think the D is the key but tonight I think this game will be decided by the over all energy level and execution on the offensive end. The Coyotes need good ball movement and good movement without the ball. If they do what they have done the last two games that is not going to cut it tonight. The Coyotes need to take good looks from the outside and not rush their shots or take shots that are not set.

46-35 North Dakota at half. I like the new UND uniforms. They have the look kind of like the Coyote men's red uniforms. They have green shorts and instead of a white stripe the design has more green in the stripe. The Coyotes are not getting out close enough on the Hawks shooters (can I just say Sioux instead). The Coyotes are having some success on the offensive end as it looks like the offense is very reliant on getting players in one on one situations to get to the basket. There is much ISO in the offense. It still seems like the ball movement and passing needs to be better but it looks like they really want to create one on one setups. The Hawks are making most of their open shots so credit them for playing a nice road game so far.

The Coyotes comeback to win it 76-71. They were down by as many as 16 points in the first quarter. That was a very gutsy win that definitely involved over coming adversity. The Coyotes led maybe 2:00 the entire game but they led when it counted the most. I think this is the biggest win of the year just because they needed to feel good about themselves before the Christmas break. They may have been more impressive during the Creighton game but I think this one was more important. When the Hawks were up 29-13 it was not looking good at all. It was a methodical comeback and a gritty comeback. I don't think this game cures all ills but it certainly helps. The D was much better in the second half. The Coyotes did very well getting the ball inside and put themselves in position where they just needed to win a one on one battle to get the hoop. Timboli had a career high 21. Lamb played well and is getting more acclimated to the game. When Allison doesn't drive into 2 or 3 defenders she does so well. She just has to be careful not driving into a mob of players and I think she did better with that today.
Just an additional note. It is good to see players such as Claudia and Liv really getting into it at the end of the bench. They are being team players and that can go a long ways to really promoting togetherness. I really liked to see that by those girls. I think Bonar and others were involved in the crazy celebrating as well. Some of the players that play more were also celebrating but to see the girls that hardly play do that is encouraging.

Wow, great comeback! The UND players are probably going to carry some frustration into the Summit next year. Good job, Ladies! The Hawks dominated the glass, as we thought they might, but the Yotes found a way to win. That might have to be the mantra this year. As much as I was impressed with MacKeever early in the season, we just have too many guards, and I'm glad to have Trimboli and Duffy starting. both play well inside and outside.
Gotta fix that rebounding, though.

How do you think of her currently and I don't mean to say you have soured on her but it is just the way you phrased the "was instead of is". I think she has been and is a very bright spot for this team both offensively and especially defensively. She does foul too much but there isn't really much downside to her and if there are too many guards on the team (which is probably the case) I don't think she is the one on the wrong side for the PT. She is arguably the MVP of this team because she sets the right example with her tenacity and her defense. I really like Madison's game.

She has been fantastic, and still is. I just think this is a better team overall when Ciara is healthy. She brings a little more physically inside, and size. Trimboli plays like a much bigger player, and those three, with Liveringhouse, have to rebound well if we want to succeed in this conference IMO
