Too bad this one isn't in Fargo as all of their fans will be in Frisco.

Carlton has his right hand wrapped up, not playing.

Hurts not having Hurst out there doing his thing on defense.

44-33 Bison at the half. Believe it or not the Coyotes led this game 15-3 so the Bison out scored the Yotes 41-18 the rest of the way. The Bison hit at least 9 threes by halftime and made probably about half of their attempts. The Coyotes energy is fine but the defense is not getting out on the Bison shooters at all. They have been wide open looks. The Coyotes are settling for out side shots for the most part and are not getting to the line like usual but the Bison are completely packing the lane forcing the Coyotes to shoot from out side.
Coach Smith has his work cut out for him at halftime. My suggestion would be to push the defense out high with the risk of a few easy shots for the Bison. I would also pick things up and get into some full court pressure and create head aches for NDSU to even get the ball up court.
Ya gotta credit the Bison as they are knocking down their shots. The Coyotes would probably lose many games if they get into a three point shooting contest with an opponent such has been the case for much of the day. I am a proponent of the three point shooting game provided they are good shots and the players are good shooters. The Bison are never an easy game. They knocked off the Jacks twice last year and are the only team to win in the SCSC.
The Coyotes are going to have to change some things up for the second half.

Hurts not having Hurst out there doing his thing on defense. That certainly is a factor but this is a next man up type of team and are built from depth so they need to be able to survive a game without Carlton. They have the bench to get through this and the absence of Hurst is NOT an excuse.

I agree, they are simply making shots 9-15 60% for 3.

Yotes cut the lead and are down one after a ridiculously lucky tip in by Jacobson.

NDSU bailed out 3 times at the end of the shot clock of garbage fouls. These games happen, NDSU shot lights out and Hunter literally shot 70% tonight.

Hunter 9-12 5-5 3pters and bailed out twice. 2nd loss ever in the SCSC the Yotes will be fine.

84-79 Enemy - Those Damn Bison
NDSU played a great game today. The Coyotes still could have won it when they took a one point lead but they could not get the stops on the D end and there were some very bad shot attempts down the stretch as well that didn't help. They got out of their offense too quickly. The Coyotes were 3 happy today but part of that reason was because of the Bison D. Teams that play D like NDSU are always going to be a threat but why in the heck did they have to pick today to play their game of the year.
I am trying to find reasons to criticize the performance today but I cannot say that the Coyotes didn't play a good game because they did. I am not going to blame the officiating but the Bison got some very timely calls towards the end with the ticky tack foul call when the shot clock almost ran out and than the block call that I thought was a charge on the player driving into Peterson.
One observation I am seeing so far this Summit season. All three Coyote opponents probably played their best or nearly best game of the year against the Yotes. Craig Smith was right when he said that there would kind of be a bigger target on their back this year. The opposite has been the case with the Women. Now they deserves all the credit in the world but their three opponents probably played their worst or close to their worst games of the year against our ladies, but like I said that does not take away from their play.
The Crowd was loud towards the end but it would be nice to start the loud cheering a little sooner. Even at home when playing a good team like NDSU ya just can't fall behind by 14 points. That is a very large hole to dig out of against a team like that as opposed to coming back against a team like Fort Wayne.
Now the Coyotes get to kind of take an under dog roll and go out on the road and do their thing. This team has taken their game in their baggage with them so they will need to do that once again. This is a hit for the chances of a title repeat and now the Yotes will almost certainly have to beat the Jacks at least once during the regular season.
