OR should have fouled at end of regulation with 4 seconds left and up by three rather than let Denver get a 3 point shot off IMHO. Go get them Coyotes!!!

Well we almost had the team I wanted but thanks to a fadeaway banked in 3 at the end of regulation and a missed layup at the end of OT we will get the team who has given us our worst loss. Double OT is nice but I think about the most overrated thing I hear this time of year is rest. These guys grow up playing 3 AAU games a day, I'm pretty sure they can handle one game a day in back to back days. Michigan starting their tourney run off with an OT win over Iowa didn't exactly hold them back against the rest of the teams they played that had an extra bye. Hopefully our guys won't be expecting a tired team tomorrow. This is do or die, they will be getting Denver's best, so we will need to match it.

Fort Wayne really let me down at the end of this one. Down by something like 23 points with 16 minutes left they got all the way back to within 1, but turned it over both times they had a chance to take the lead. IPFW is the team that would have given sdsu more trouble. NDSU played out of their minds in the first half tonight but seem incapable of playing a complete game. I'll be surprised if their game is even close tomorrow. Fort Wayne is over rated plain and simple. Teams that fall down by 20 or more points at anytime during a game are very unlikely to come all the way back and win a game. It takes too much energy to come back and a team generally has a let down once they do make their push. Teams make runs all the time but rarely are they finished in a win. The Coyotes have done this and come back only to lose on more than one occasion. If a team puts themselves in a big hole they deserve their fate. If Fort Wayne would have played better from the start they would have advanced but they didn't and that is why they are over rated because they are inconsistent. Play good here and there and play poorly as well. Those types of teams and especially ones that are not good defensively are not made for these types of tourneys.

If there was a script for the Coyotes it is playing out pretty darn well. Double OT in a tough game. These are the minutes for Denver against ORU.
Rosga 50 Pemberton 47 Murkey 45 Krafka 35 Amigo 33 Carlisle 23 Mackey 9 Holtzmann 8
Big minutes for the Pioneers and who the heck came up with the nickname "Pio's" as that is not easy on the ears whatsoever. Just like the Jacks the majority of their minutes came from 6 players.
Lets face it, this is the Coyotes tournament to lose because of how things are playing out. Obviously there are no guarantees but this Coyote team has been on a mission since this tourney last year. The Yotes by far had the least stress of the 4 teams that made it through. They have good guard play, they have good defense and have a pretty good bench. Those are the typical keys for tourney success. On Monday night the Coyotes once again need a good start. Denver will be ok as long as they are in the game or ahead. If the Coyotes get the Pioneers (and I will never refer to them as the Pio's) down by double digits it is probably the recipe for Denver's demise because if they do rally most likely they won't be able to finish the job. I would like to see good ball movement so Denver has to move their legs a lot. It is much easier to pass the ball around then to have to chase after a passed ball.

FWIW, the other semi: KenPom Prediction: Rabbits 79 Bison 72 (rabbits with a 71% chance to win, which seems very low to me)

IPFW is the team that would have given sdsu more trouble. NDSU played out of their minds in the first half tonight but seem incapable of playing a complete game. I'll be surprised if their game is even close tomorrow. NDSU's inconsistency is what I find the scariest part of their team. They are very Jekyll and Hyde with the guard play with the exception of Miller, of course. Their interior game is weak, but if they ever get complete games from their wings I think they are right there with SDSU. Hunter showed the Yotes what he is capable of when he lit us up for 35 points, and looking at the box scores, he either scores 15-20 points or lays goose eggs. Ward can also light it up but seems like he has been pretty streaky too. And then you have AJ Jacobson, honorable mention All-Summit his first two years, but for whatever reason hasn't broken out like Miller has in his junior and senior campaigns. I think Jacobson would still be an all league guy on any other team, but he doesn't seem to get many shots in this system for whatever reason. They don't need a lot of offensive production from their big guys, just good defense to limit Daum from doing Daum things. If these guys can get cookin' or just get some consistency from each of them for a whole game they could very easily beat SDSU...Denver, and USD. NSDU has had a disappointing conference season and they know they can redeem that by winning the tournament and playing spoilers. I think they are relishing the underdog role, and will upset the Jacks tonight. It will be interesting to see how big of a factor the crowd will play tonight also, as the weather may plug some rabbit holes.

The Bison are really stinking tonight. So much for them giving the Jacks a hard time. SDSU just stands around on offense and throws up a three pointer and it is working. They haven't had to use much energy like I was hoping tonight. It would be nice if the Coyotes could get off to a fast start so they can dictate the game and play the bench a lot tonight again. I am just hoping this was the case of the Bison not showing up. I will give the Jacks credit but I will say the game is 70% NDSU not showing up and 30% the Jacks playing well. Either way not what I was hoping for out of this one.
The vibe isn't quite as good tonight as it was on Saturday. The Jacks are looking good men and women and the Coyote women had to struggle more with ORU.

Anyone know the word on NDSU's coach? Sounds like he may be gone after this (apologies if should be a separate thread).

Well according to Matt Zimmer he just said "unless something goofy" happens the Jacks will be going back to the NCAA tournament next year again. Looks like no one else has much of a chance. Considering the location of the tourney he may just very well be right.

I would agree they are the favorite after winning it this year. I still think USD will win it based on what we redshirted/coming in/didnt lose to graduation.
Still a lot that can happen like Daum leaving for Creighton or TJ leaving for the Duke job that he is holding out for.
